How come it's friendly? One can clearly see the Royal Italian flag (with the crown), which means Italy is already on the Allies side...

Italy was a member of the Axis from '41 till September '43, from the September they were "neutral" (with Northern parts of the country occupied by 3rd Reich army), and finally from '44 on they joined Allied side in war against Germany. I might be wrong, but they started using the "royal" flag (with a crown) only after siding with the Allies.

Well ! thanks for the info,In one of the historical missions you get to sail with an Italian task force and they are showing the Royal Flag so if your right the Dev's got it wrong again Maybe they had a sack full Flags one for sailing with the Germans and one for sailing with the Allies

Anyway thanks for the info it all started with a little joke between Otto and I. Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!! they are changing sides again Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

I am afraid you are the Italian tricolour with Savoy's shield and a Royal crown in the middle was in use from 1861-1946 during the time it was the Kingdom of Italy, remember Mussolini was dismissed after a vote of no confidence on the Grand Fascist Council and after Hitler rescued him he proclaimed the Italian Social Republic that was nothing but a puppet state and they had a different flag that of the Kingdom of Italy.
