Default Escorts quarrel

Hey guys,
I was attacking a convoy earlier and, whilst being hunted by the escorts, I witnessed one escort firing its guns at the other . Just prior to this both escorts were close to one another dropping depth charges at me. I was around 35m-40m down.
My question is could one escort accidently damaging the other with a shallow depth charge cause this or is this some weird bug in the game?
As a test I went to ahead flank to see if they would ignor me, but one escort continued to pursue me as well as fire at the other!

I hate it when mommy and daddy fight.

Actually I've seen escorts destroy each other accidentally, by running over top of each other's depth charges or one ramming another because one of them rams me and gets stuck there and the other one can't change course in time to avoid a collision. But I've never seen one fire on another. Although I did get an armed ASW trawler to help me sink one of the merchants in a convoy by surfacing just out of range on the other side of the merchant. The trawler was trying to fire over top of the merchant at me and everything was falling short and hitting the merchant instead. Who I was also shelling with the deck gun, so thanks for the help guys!

GWX has many paths, just as God in saying the Lord's ways are inscrutable

I just want to say, that today on my 14th Patrol (and still going,) I was using the Time Compression a little excessive and sure enough before I knew it, flak guns totally destroyed and 90% hull damage.. What happened.. The Destroyer rammed me while I was at P. Depth.. No biggie, till I saw he was sinking and destroyed.. I was happy, but I know that should not happen, lol

90% hull damage, look on the bright side you still have 10% left, but you may expect to have the holiday for a while before you can go out on a mission, and you are in life which is important, take your crew and head off to Berlin, and rock

I have seen this happen several times also. Mostly during the convoy attack academy mission. But I guess it can also happen during a campaign patrol. For some reason the destroyer started picking on the armed trawler (or was it the other way around, can't remember, too long ago) when they were trying to depthcharge me. I've never seen what might have caused the aggravation between them, as I was deep below surface. I'm guessing the one that is shooting received collateral damage from one of the depthcharges of the other unit. It's so weird, I almost felt being neglected.

I have had an instance when a trawler got too excited and circled me like a bird. Destroyer was already firing long before the trawler got all jumpy.

Let's just say the trawler gave me enough time to escape while the destroyer stopped firing due to collateral damage.

That is where it happened for me, I was messing about on the convoy attack naval academy mission, being depth charged while fairly shallow, then when I look up top again that is when I noticed it! (have never seen it during campain though).
I did'nt feel neglected as they still would not leave me alone!
I quit the mission before I saw the outcome of their little tiff!

Escorts will continue to shoot at you even if another escort, or merchant (or even a land mass!) is blocking the line of fire. In such cases the the blocking ship conveniently receives all the shells intended for you.

In all my games, I have never seen two AI ships ram each other. I have seen a few dozen times where they would have in real life, but never in the game. You can blow up an ammunition ship in the front of a convoy, with 4 escorts dashing about between the rows, and they will all manage to miss each other -- even stopping on a dime and going full reverse, if necessary.
