Do I treat DBSM and the fix as normal mods (Putting in folders in the MODS section for JSGME) or just copy straight into the base folder?

All the ones I found so far are, into the mods folder and then JSGME ready.

So I put the DBSM and the Fix both in seperate folders and put them into the MOD section but Im not sure if Im getting the right sounds?? every time I click on the CE for example and give him an order i get (Yes Captain[In german of course]) and then he calles out what I ordered (Dive, etc etc) I have it set in German and it still sounds like the same monotonous stock tones, what all sounds does the DBSM include??

Both are JSGME-ready, but I like to do a direct install.

That's not right. With DBSM there are no "Jawhol, Herr Kaleun"s, not one.

DBSM changes about 70% of the 'Speech' files. When you call for periscope depth it should go directly to Jurgen Prochnow announcing it, and then a full dive routine combining sounds from the stock game and sounds from the movie.

Just double-checked - my bad. Once you open the zipped folder you will find a folder labeled 'DBSM for SH3'. Inside that are a couple more folders. The 'DBSM' folder goes into JSGME, NOT the outer 'DBSM for SH3' folder.

The other folders contain a couple of alternate sounds. Every time a depth charge hits the water you'll hear splashes and Hinrich saying "WASSERBOMB!" Every time a torpedo hits you'll hear Lumprecht telling the off-duty guys it hit, them cheering and him silencing them.

I got tired of hearing them every single time, so the alternate files change those to a blank file for the torpedo hit and just the splashes for the depth charge launch. The bad news is you have to copy and paste them to all nine of the 'Speech' folders.

Also please read all the readmes at least once. They tell what the different files do, and how they've grown, but most especially give credit to the guys who made the original for SH2.

ahh I think I know what I may have did wrong because the download was zipped and I unzipped and got a single file for each. I bet I gotta rename them with .exe or something?

just checked and its definately not right. each download( The fix and original) show only one file with .7z at the end. ??

Same with my Hitman Optics mod as well as my life boat mod, neither show in the game?? and they both have .7z's at the end

Okay, I saw in the other thread that Jimbuna turned you onto 7-Zip? Have you got it sorted out yet? If not then http://www.7-zip.org/

Use it to unzip the folder to either the desktop or make a new folder. Open the 'DBSM for SH3' folder and put the 'DBSM' folder into the game's 'MODS' folder and use JSGME to enable it. Then you can do the same with the 'Fixes' folder.

It is possible to install it permanently and directly, but I don't want to confuse you until you're ready.

okay I posted just a sec ago about my DBSM not working. however after enabling in JSGME this is what I found, a folder called DBSM outside of the "data" folder for the game, which contains a SOUND folder. well this DBSM folder has SOUND inside of it, with all the DBSM sounds. now I could manually put them into the other sound folder, but I still want to keep the files so I can vanilla the game if I want . secondly I cant find the fix folder .

I'm sorry but I haven't got DBSM installed but Steve should be along in 4 or 5 hours, I'm sure he'll get you sorted.

It looks to my like you need a little tuition/advice on file structures.

Don't worry, many of us have been in this position before you.

As I carefully said in post #20, open the 'DBSM for SH3' folder and move the next folder in, 'DBSM' into the MODS folder. That contains the correct path for JSGME to follow.

Does the DBSM mod shut that bloody telegraph bell up! It seems to ring twice as loud as anything else, my missus thinks it's time to wake up!
