Oh, and welcome aboard

Welcome, and might I suggest you build yourself an attack disk/whiz wheel:

And learn how to use it. Very handy tool to have.

You can get the templates to make it in this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=114351

And you can get the instruction booklet on how to use it in this thread:

I have got SH3 commander and GWX and it runs fine (20-30 fps in harbor and with LOTs of activity around and 60 out by myself) i just wish my graphics card was alot better so I could have better looking water (My water all looks opaque and ugly at the moment, no reflections) but I think ill be getting one soon and if I get a better CPU all together. Say hello to SH5 and IRAI to me as well cant wait to see the new damage in GWX!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! E RegioSommergibile mi piace a vedere una persone d' Italia. Studio la sua bella lingua

My first questions:

does anyone ever use active sonar? if so which situations?

does anyone use radar? if so which situations?

I have a naxos (or is it metox? I forget) radar detector. I also know the allies made a radar detector detector. Is this modeled in the game?

I've seen the "sweet spot" charts you guys made. Are these charts for the unmodded version or just the GWX?

I read an interview with a developer that stated that you could listen in on enemy messages if you were on the right frequency ("sos" or "sss" messages) did this make it in the game?

I also found your charts for the milkcows. Are these present at all times in campaign missions? (I just spent 3/4ths of my torpedos trying to sink c3 cargo and c3 tanker.. they just wouldn't go down!)

Thanks!
Chris

I was just trying to keep him from getting overwhelmed with the usual "You MUST get THIS first! and then here's a list of 132 extras you need."
Yours is a good start, but might be a bit confusing.

Don't listen to this. You *NEED* to use exactly what I tell you to use, or you will forever be a noob that is hounded mercilessly until we drive you away from ever wanting to play a submarine simulation as long as you live. You won't even like regular soap anymore because it sinks, and will be so disgusted with anything that submerges you'll only buy Ivory soap. You will also avoid people named Perry, and foods like eel and asparagus.

If you happen to drive by "Carl's Donuts", your head will explode like a ship loaded with ammonium nitrate.

That's how bad it will get.

Not really. I am just joking of course. Play the game the way you want to play it, and have fun.
