Aaaaarrrgghh! CTD's when loading a save

Rule of thumb for save games is never save underwater, and never save within 50 (or maybe 30) kilometers of another unit. Sometimes you may get lucky with a save, but it's best not to take chances.

Try not to delete the default 'Player' name that comes with the game....some of us believe that may have a detrimental effect.

I did save when I was near Brest on my way home. I should've just sailed into port and ended my patrol. I am beginning to think I have a problem with the hardware on this new notebook. I've had other apps lockup or quit on me. Looks like I have some serious diagnosing to do.

Saving near land is also not recommended, IIRC. I think it does wacky things to any nearby ships or something

Yes, any ships patrolling the harbour areas lose their waypoints and sail in a straight line regardless of whether there is a harbour wall or river bank in front of them

I'm aware of that bug and never do that. When I said "near land" I was I was still several hundred KMs out to sea.
