Default Can't install GWX3

Hi,

I did everything I was supposed to do like doing a fresh install then patch it up to 1.4b and making sure there were no old SH3 related folders left.

At the very start of installation, error window popped up saying

"Setup was unable to create

"C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter II
/Data/Multimissions/German/MP6-Vor Labradors K ? te"

folder or something like that then rolled back.

My OS is Korean so could that be somehow related with the German folder name?

Any idea on how to get through this?

I really want to play GWX3

Your post says Silent Hunter II for the directory. Is that a Typo?

If your OS is Vista or Windows 7 then I suggest to install the game outside of the Program Files folder. That should avoid the kind of error message you showed. That folder is under special protection by the OS.

But installing GWX on Silent Hunter 2 won't work. Though his link must be SH3 as Ubisoft didn't release SH2 back then. It was SSI, iirc.

It might very well be a language reason. The filename it is trying to create is:

MP6- Vor Labradors Küste

Note the 2 dots on top of the "u" (known in German as U-umlaut). That is probably not part of your character set. Unfortunately I have no idea how to solve this.... at the moment.

I suspect that this is the problem. Would installing German fonts on your computer help? This is the only thing I can think of. (Grammar is OK according the Churchill.)

Yes, I think it's a language problem, too.

I'll try to install some german font and see what happens.

Thanks, guys!

I can't see how additional fonts will help. It's a Language issue (if that's the reason at all).

As you have a fairly decent grasp of English, I suggest you alter your Windows Language/Regional settings to English, install/extract GWX3.0 and then return to the Korean language pack.

If all of that fails, I suggest you double check the MD5 Hash codes for the downloaded GWX parts to ensure none are corrupted.

Agreed....but uninstall EVERYTHING SH3 related including the SH3 folder if it has been created and perform a registry clean.

If you don't have one get this and use the free trial version:
