Default [needed] better TBF-1 Avenger model and allied planes

I need a better TBF-1 Avenger3d model than the stock one :

real deal :

TBF-1 Avenger early in 1942. Note the red spot centered in the US national insignia, which was removed just before the Battle of Midway

It's terrible if it's actually supposed to be a TBF (wings and H stab are wrong, as is fuselage... Oh, the gear are in the wrong place, too )

Looks like the roundels have the Star with a red circle in the middle. That was eliminated before TBFs ever saw combat (for fear of what happened in this thread, misidentification with japanese aircraft )
Anyone got a better 3d model of an Avenger ? with the rear belly gun ?

this also goes for any and all US planes one is likely to encounter in the PTO.

we should make a new plane, IJN for instance, and set up a US 3d model to simulate "friendly fire" ?

Yes Alex is becomeing quite the 3D modeler.
Now he just needs to get the models to someone to do the imports.
Or get busy and do it himself.

Default Helldivers and Buffaloes

I'm running TMO 2.0 and I think I've only seen Helldivers and Buffaloes on the US flattops. A bit of an immersion killer as I don't think Buffaloes were ever a carrier aircraft (but I'm not sure on that) whereas the Helldiver wasn't introduced until a bit later.

It would definitely be nice to see the appropriate aircraft on the flattops (as well as in the air).

Nice work Alex! There's hope yet, LOL.

The torpedo should be internal on the TBF. As should the bomb load.

Since the models don't care, the B nodes can simply be bumped inside.

Once the nodes are moved inside.
Do some fancy work and make the Bomb doors open.

It can be done if you really want it to happen.

Not sure anyone dumb enough to stay on the surface in the face of a TBF should be rewarded with something as cool as that

The only problem I would have with that is what to link the animation to. I could animate them to open but how would I link the animation so they open when the bomb drops or open when they detect your sub and attack?

There are a lot of things like that and I have no idea how they do it. For example: When a DD detects you he flashes a signal, drops DCs, Fires guns, turns his rudder and races toward you. I always thought these things were hardcoded and not accessible to use to trigger other events.
I have an Ohka Kamikaze rocket/bomb that is dropped from a heavy bomber, but I have no idea how to activate the "rocket" after it is dropped, so I have the rocket "On" all the time. It's not noticeable at altitude but it is not what I wanted. But have no idea how to use the "drop event" to trigger the rocket.
On a player's sub I could link to the dive planes, or the opening of a torpedo door to trigger an event, since I could link to the animation. But I have no clue how to link to a bomb dropping.

IMHO any effort to do this would be wasted. Eye candy is only as good as the least pretty part of whatever the eyecandy is. The planes behave so little like actual aircraft, seeing the door open is sort of overkill.

YMMV.

nice accurate models even with bomb doors closed would do .

The hardest part is that IMO there isn't a real dynamic campaign : if you sink those US carriers early in the war there should be repercussions, there should be something happening because of your actions.. but there isn't, this is most frustrating...

I know that the TBF got the Torpedo inside but i have tested it out with the Betty in FOTRS.
When you put the Torps inside the Hull of an Plane the Torpedo will not run to the target.
They all gone lost on the seaground.
Torpedos must be outside of the Hull if they should work.

You will make me happy when you find out a way to make that run !

Regards
