Hi Jim. Greetings. How does one know if there is something in render range, since my visible range is only 16km?

Hi Henning

That's the problem, you can't but give small thanks the rendering range anomaly is intermittent.

With lower spec computers you might notice a drop in fps.

I've got an idea how to go about the testing.
If 2 or 3 people are willing to do the loading and saveing
as I specify, I'll do the rest.

Go to The Lair and we'll easily muster the testers

Anywhere we can follow the progress of this? I'm quite interested, if this gets solved then SH3 will quite simply be the most perfect game in existence.

I agree, if this bug could be cured then it would be a great achievement. In my experience once a save is flawed subsequent saves are also corrupt. That's why I now save each time with the name of the grid square I'm currently in and only save on exit from the game. This means that I have several saves per patrol and if one goes pear shaped then hopefully I can fall back on my previous save that I know worked. You will lose progress if a save goes bad, but not the whole patrol.

The work only begun a day or two ago over at The Lair (a private site of The Grey Wolves) and is being tested by some of those who tested GWX, so I'm confident enough to say the work is in capable hands.

Privateer is in charge of the above so I'm sure he won't mind giving updates regarding what is being done and how the work is progressing on a regular basis.

If he differs from this viewpoint upon reading this post I'm also confident he will post to say so.

I just had another couple days of playtime flushed down the toilet yesterday due to save errors. To those attempting a method to get around such issues, I salute you and hope for your success.

We have begun testing.
That's about all I can tell you at this time.
I have the utmost confidence in the testers as I have worked with them in the past.

The goal of this phase of testing is to find key points in the files.
Much like breaking the GR2 files for SH5?
I'm attacking the Save Game files the same way.
This is where the Testers are more important then me.
They must be dead on to the standards I set for them.

Once they do thier part?
I'll compare files and mark differences.
I'll then ask for further testing upon the results.
We are not far enuff along to have any information to discuss.

I expect a week or so before I can say much more about this project.

Yeah, all the best of luck with this one. No doubt it's just a small issue somewhere & will probably be fixed in a couple of days.
