Try his "Run Silent, Run Deep", "Dust on the Sea", and "Cold is the Sea" trilogy. They're fiction but very realistic. The first two take place in WWII, the last in the cold war. There's a bunch more out there, US fleet boats and U-boats: "Clear the Bridge" and "Wahoo" Richard O'Kane. "Das Boot" "Iron Coffins" Herbert Werner-take his "true story" book with a grain of salt. Those came to mind first, but there's a ton more out there.
