I've played SH3 for years and have never seen a French convoy. However, all of my patrols have been in the Atlantic as I have never tried a Med career.

I saw a French convoy the other day, in 1939, in the Atlantic, just off the coast of Spain.

Was fun too, since their only escort was an Elco boat, so I just blow the hell out of them all with my torps and ran off whilst the Elco was spinning in circles trying to find me.

I did it once real late at night in perfect weather, I ran silent around 4knots with the deck submerged. but it was more from the rear corner rather than straight up the rear. I got lucky I guess (it was my first surface attack in a convoy)

I would have, but he seemed so happy out there leading his little parade... never noticing the back end was getting shorter and shorter. I took out six of his sheep.

Of course, it was a perfect setup.... Murky, moonless night.

My first, too, in four years of playing. I got a BdU report of it while I was in BE99; it was reported going SE about 70-80 clicks SW of me. Intercepted via hydrophone. When I got close enough to see it, I had to look Bourrasque up.

Am I the only one that finds sailors talking like this somewhat ammusing?

Must be just me.

Nope. I started snickering 'round about post #2 in the thread. Something about "taking a convoy from the rear."

You come across this in the middle of a French convoy whilst surfaced and you've got BIG trouble!

It took me about three times as long to read this thread. I too was snickering, laughing and having to re-read post. Just couldn't keep my mind (such that it is) on track.

Well, it is true that bad things are likely to happen when you take a convoy from the rear.

OTOH, at least you can both watch the hockey game.

That reminds me a lewd country song parody I heard some time ago. I can't remember all the lyrics but one line stood out:

"Let's do it doggy style so we can both watch TV."

Collega Comandante Jimbuna,

may I ask where did you manage to find the Strasbourg that can be seen in your screenshot? In GWX Gold the biggest thing the French have is the Bourrasque.

Thanks!
