With the volume up, it wasn't that hard. Took awhile, but I managed a good solution. She was still around 4k yds out and making 7kts, so I had time to go get another Mountain Dew and some cookies.

When I got back she was about 1k out, so I decided to take a peek. Hey! The fog had cleared! Oh LOOKIE! A large tanker! I noted my plot put me a bit closer to her track than I usually liked. But, still good. And not too close so as the fish wouldn't arm before striking. I quickly added a third fish to the salvo, just to make sure. Set the first and second to slow speed and the third to fast. I figured to fire aft to bow.

When the time was ripe I let the salvo fly and waited.

I grabbed the plate of cookies and was reaching for the Dew when all hell broke loose!!!

The screen went whitish orange in a flash... the roar in the room sounded like Deep Purple themselves were in the room (forgot to turn the sound down after lookin for her)!!! The Dew arced through the air like a Reggie Miller 3 pointer. The cookies scattered as if shot from a confetti cannon, which sent the dog off like a 7 year old on a sugar high at an easter egg hunt.

I crawled back to the screen and swung the scope around to see nothing but flotsam and floating bodies. YES!!!.. I sat there for a moment before chuckling and ordering the crew to surface the boat...

I turned to survey the damage done to the room in time to see the wife walk off, once again, muttering, "jackass"...

"HEY, how was I to know she was loaded with oil"????

At least the dog likes me.

That's actually a picture of Eta Carinae in the constellation Carina. Mush Martin looks like a fellow astronomer. I was honestly considering posting the same pic as a gag.

@NorthBeach: That, is one funny story. Nicely written too. English Lit major, I presume?

You are an idiot. It is not you who proclaims your pic can't be beaten. What an idiot.

And, your quote is misquotes of Churchill. He never said it.

The Soldiers Prayer
"And When He Gets To Heaven,
To Saint Peter He Will Tell;
One More Marine Reporting Sir,
I've Served My Time In Hell"
- Marine Grave inscription on Guadalcanal, 1942

Go back to SH5. Stay there!

Wow, take it easy I'm goin' down.

Putting the record straight is one thing, going on the offensive like that is an overkill ...

No, that's what will happen to Earth when all the world's women reach "that time of the month" at the same time.

Default He wore out his welcome

MattJ wore out his welcome in the SH4 forum about a year ago, and then he disappeared. Take a look at the first post on his Visitor Message Board from long ago by another member of the community. He was then, and is still today (or yesterday) a braggart, a jerk, and while he was wasting our time with his self agrandizing posts (of which the one above is a concise example), he was polishing his credentials in the sim/forum in SH4 by taking on missions in auto targeting at an impressive 15 percent realism. The first time he took a "leave" from the forum he issued an apology for his over the top rants and posts. Then he disappeared. He reappeard (should I say "surfaced"?) after a hiatus of several months, posted like crazy, and was steered to SH5 (hopefully by the undersigned.) He disappeared again for around an month or two, and now is back. When he posts, he has done so in torrents, and I expect he will resume his previous pattern. I assume he is a teenager. I cut him slack in the SH4 forum in the past for that reason. No more.

MattJ does not know how accurate the opening clause of his bio information, posted below his avatar, is. It is not a freudian slip, and provides insight into his reality.

Oops! My apology to you. I seem to have inadvertantly inserted myself into a comment that I misunderstood. You don' have to explain your reply to me. I just thought you were making a random comment ("a pissed off wife") about his explosion pic. My reply was just an attempt to offer a light hearted perspective. I hope I didn't give you the wrong impression.

I know that you were not responding to my post re MattJ. The context of your post was apparent, so their is no need to apologize. My reply was not directed at you. It was a response to Captain Dippos, who is protecting the Mediterranean for us.
