Well, looks like I outdid you in this category, Fish40. In fact, my mistake was one of the basics when it comes to no-nos. Therefore I'm nominating myself as President and CEO of the Morons Club! I leave Miday on May 25th, 1943 to start a new patrol. My assignment? Patrol for 4 days within a 150nm zone that sits smack-dab in the middle of the Formosa Strait. Wow, that's no small task, I say to myself. Ahh, I can handle it, and I shrug it off. Next, I travel for over 2 weeks and almost 4,000nm. I reach the Formosa Strait and immediately pick up a sonar contact. A Medium European Composite, but its too far away, outside my zone and heading in the opposite direction. I decide to let that one pass as I head into the north end of the strait. Consequently, that sonar contact prompted me to get my sub in order in case of any sudden contacts.
I start by loading Deck and AA guns. Then I go to the torpedo station and, WTF!!! Where are all my torpedoes?!!! Turns out that, in a rush to drag & drop the torps, I sort-of missed a few. Actually, I had only half of my stardard compliment. So, long story short, I raided the harbor at Taipei (5 merchants and 3 small warships), kept only 2 torps each in the Fore and Aft tubes (in case of an encounter going home) and, well, now it RTB with my tail between my legs for another 4,000nm, all in less than 24 hours.
