Default CTD sound related ????

Newish computer w/8gig of memory and Vista 64 bit OS. SH3 with GWX and NYGM supermods loaded. CTD occurs when I'm attacking a convoy. After the first salvo destroyers begin to get close. They may make an attack run or are near but pinging me. Usually there are merchant ships around also.

Does not happen if I engage lone merchants. Does not happen if I engage a destroyer and if I miss it gets close. Only occurs when destroyers are convoy escorts.

I have Realtex High definition audio and have downloaded the latest driver for my system. No luck!

Have thought about installing an old PCI Soundblaster card from another computer but thought to wait and see if any of you can help me resolve the issue before trying to install the card.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I used to get CTDs when some ships would sink, and I'm pretty sure it was due to my onboard sound. Are you using onboard sound now, or is it just a different card?

That may not be it, but swapping out a sound card is one of the easiest things to do, and can always be changed back if that wasn't the problem. Trust me, any idiot can do it.

It is on-board. Tried both sound folders (NYGM and GWX) and it is still crashing when destroyers are near. Tried with the XXI mission (44). Can kill both aircraft carriers, but when destroyers get near CTD.

Are you running both supermods at the same time? If you are, they are not compatible and might be the cause of the crash.

I only run one game & super mod at a time. Will wait for any constructive reply and hope it fixes the problem. Don't really want to try and install the old soundblaster card and trying to find vista 64 bit drivers.

Ok, I had to ask. Your first post made it sound like you were running both together. This is a tough problem. I hope someone can figure it out for you.

Reloaded GWX...same mods and configuration. Was able to start career and attack convoy, but no really close or long encounters with destroyers.

The XXI mission (single missions) that I had issues with using NYGM worked with GWX. Tried same mission w/NYGM and VIIC/41 and had CTD again, so it's not the type of submarine.

Have the 4gb patch on. Did not install the old soundblaster card so I don't think it's a sound issue with GWX, but might be with NYGM. Will re-install NYGM later today and see what happens.
