After playing ME2 I've gone back to ME1, but I have problems getting my squaddies to use their powers. The first problem is that I can't seem to assign their powers to the shortcut bar - I can only assign my own! Was ME1 always that way? The second problem is that they just don't use their offensive powers regardless of how I set the gameplay options. Use Squad Powers "Always" and "Defensive Only" both seem to do the same thing - my squaddies will boost shields and throw up barriers but that's all they'll do unless I pause the game and force them to use an offensive power. Again, was it always that way?

turn it off, if you want to use squad's powers.

No, I want them on. And I have them turned on (Squad Powers "Active") but it doesn't work.
![]() Short of a re-install I have no ideas how to fix this. |

IIRC you have to pause the game with the space bar. This also opens a menu where you can select the weapon for each squad member and you can also access their powers there (It is somewhere explained in the "tutorial" when you play the first mission on Eden Prime.).

![]() Since nobody seems able to help, I have restarted and this time I'm just going to pile my squaddie skill points into defensive powers only (since they are still using those). I can't be bothered with pausing and micromanaging them all the time. |

This is there older forum the one they shut down. Try there. Use the TAB key and assign or move there power? For them to auto use it? they've always used it for me? Maybe in the options? |
