You are going to have to give us more info than that.
We need to know specifics.... JIM

Ditto, but did you load a prior saved game? IE you have game1, game2 and game3, and loaded game1? That will blow away subsequent games...

It's very strange. I know that if you load game1 for example, you lose any sunsequent saves etc.
What happened tonight was that when I saved and exited the game everything seemed OK as normal. Finished dinner, loaded the game back up and when I clicked on the saved career button, there were no saves in there. Not even the in base before mission save. I have a backup instal on my HD. Can anyone tell me where the save files are saved to. Perhaps I could at least copy an earlier save from there rather than starting a career from sctratch. My big worry is that this could happen again if I don't know what caused it this time. I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else? Thanks for replying guys. |

Hi,
Yes, same thing here a few weeks ago. type IX career, saved at sea for safety (despite near having constant CTDs when saving this career mid ocean upon coming back to it), loaded back up later and complete career had disappeared. Strangely my VII career, saved under a different name was unaffected. No idea what happened. Seems odd that one career can be so bugged (IX), yet the other (VII) never has any problems. Gary |

Your saves are all listed in "My Documents" folder. Look for SH3
and just follow the folders in to your career... JIM

Files are located in
SH3\data\cfg\Careers\[profile name]\[number of career]\ Within each career folder there are 9 files named corresponding to the name of the save and 1 file named crew_config_[save].cfg Hope it helps, got that nasty vanishing saves bug myself only when CTD for two times. |

Thanks for the input guys. It sure helps knowing where the save files are located. I am going to backup more often now.
Interesting though, I have looked in the SH3 folder in my documents, and sure enough there is a career folder that contains the nine files that Tombomsee mentions, but only for my most recent save from last night, which was a totally new career. Although I had a backup of my instal, I did not have a backup of the SH3 folder in my docs. ![]() |

Now another problem regarding saves!
![]() I just docked back at base after my first patrol. The captains log confirms that I sank 4 merchants, totalling 23317 tons. Unfortunately, according to the list of top captains, I show my first patrol as having sunk NO ships! There are no awards or renown earnt for the patrol. |
