Permanent Mushroom Cloud?

Fooling around with Wikipedia and Google Earth tonight, I came across this interesting terrain feature near or on the site of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site:

Either Mother Nature has a dark sense of humor, or my imagination ran away from me. Looks like a mushroom cloud to me.

Coordinates:

49°59'6.65"N
78°51'8.91"E

I guess that is what happens when you detonate two nukes in succession. The mushroom cloud of one gets burned in to the Earth...

More of those have been set off than most realize. Here is a cool site that lists all from 1945 until 2000 in cool flash animation:

http://www.ctbto.org/specials/1945-1...sao-hashimoto/

I had no idea it was so many.

If you want a better view check out

That strange one that looks like the Death Star just got toasted was a nuke test in space.

You should take the Rorschach test krashkart, and post the results.

I don't know if I'd want to - it might confirm what I already suspect.
