This why you don't use Wikipedia as a source. The sentence in the Wikipedia article you linked to had two references associated with it. References 14 and 15. One reference is a newspaper and the other reference is a blog - not exactly an academic citation. If you read both those references, you will find that neither reference supports the claim on Wikipedia that "in Islam it is considered sinful to kill animals for reasons other than food". This is what is known as a phony citation and is, unfortunately, common on Wikipedia. Always check citations ![]() ![]()

At least not for anything that is the least bit contentious.

The Frau has to remind her students (college) about wikipedia. It is a greaet place to start your research. I feel that Wikipedia was one of the best things to come from the Internets Tubes since free porn.
Even at the doctorate level, I often start at Wikipedia. But as I have to remind my co-workers the strength of a wiki is that anyone can add stuff. The weakness of a wiki is that anyone can add stuff. Which is why I am against non-attributed wikis (all our wikis at work are attributed).
