re-setting realism by editing the game's file?

I set for a new campaign, and half way towards my patrol area, I realize that my fuel doesn't drop. It stays 100/100. I probably chose "unlimited fuel" accidentally.

Does anyone knows how to fix that without restarting
the patrol from scratch? (edition the game's file?)

When you back to base after your mission,
is it possible to alter the realism settings then?

I wouldn't go editing game files in the middle of a patrol. Strange things can occur.
When you are next in base, before you start off on your next patrol, hit ESC to bring up the options screen.
Then you can navigate to the realism tab and turn things on and off as you wish.
