Well, if you got better mileage the slower you went, you'd have to remain stationary to get the best mileage of all!

For it to be mileage, you do have to be making miles which requires forward movement.

guess i have yet another question.

My home port is pearl harbour, in other words i have to return there in order to quit a mission, but for some strange reason i start out at midway when i start a new mission!! has happened 2 times in a row now

This is normal in the game if you start your patrol from "outside the harbor". In RL boats heading east went from Pearl to Midway to top off the tanks before continueing. I assume UBI programmed it this way to save us time.

Nappy, I was suprised the first time it happened to me. But I found it rather a time saver since I would always stop at Midway anyways to top off fuel.
