You need to read the rules here. While it's true, and everybody knows it, Subsim has a working relationship with the game companies and certain things are verboten.

SUBSIM Review has a longstanding policy against software piracy.

We do NOT allow discussion or even mention of warez, abandonware, peer-to-peer game swapping, game cracks, illegal download sites, or illegal file-sharing. Nothing will get you banned faster than pointing people to illegal software distribution sites. Don't ask for serial numbers, manuals, or cracks. Any admission that you have in your possession illegal software can and usually will result in revocation of your Radio Room forum account and permanent ban. We do not care what you do on your computer in your home, but do not discuss it here. Support computer game programmers buy legally purchasing their work. They have to eat too, you know.

Only those who had this Avatar at sometime are allowed Members.

I know You, Me, and I think, Dowley, make it in?

It would be improper for me to mention names out of turn, but a longstanding official here actually once had that avatar.

But lessons are learned, people grow and go on to do great things.

You are not supposed to talk about pirating, or give information that supports cracking like the .ini "mod/fix" for SHV. As long as it stayed on legal grounds, the moderators here have in worst case moved it to the general discussions area.

Of course solid information about the effects of piracy would be most welcome, especially for the SH series products. However, as more than one study in the past concluded, it is a very tough subject and unambiguous conclusions are hard to come by. Especially relations between "downloads", and "lost sales" are pure speculation, and downloads can also lead to new sales.
Here's some more references that I found (don't remember when and where), but are worth reading in detail if you want to start understanding the complexities, and what makes it so easy for companies to use this as a default excuse for product failures:

As far as I'm aware there is still no crack for sh5 v1.2 available. Causes of this I guess are unknown, but might be pretty fair that crackers felt too lazy to mess with it once again lol. Shoot me for mentioning the word "CRACK" but drm seems to be holding upperhand at least for now.
