Not much use in the game unless you wage war on the escorts with them.

Biggest problem with the ells is range, when in 1943 on wards you want to be a long way to stand a chance but no.
The range of ells are in fact, the main prob. but to avoid the enemy unit you stay an watch from safe distance or dive...

Only if you fire one when you know a friendly ship is around, or at least you have recognised a friendly ship for an enemy.

But if you meant that you were attacking enemy ships with friendly ships around I think you should have known that you should have not to used the sonar torps, otherwise, if there are no friendly ships about, a sonar torp is not a bad idea...

No I mean that you aim a ship 900 metres away from me.But the torpedo hit me.Thats why they suck, they never hit the target that you want.

they suck IF you ignore the rules to use them.

shoot, silent running, sink to 50 meters.

Both of you.

once the fish leaves the tube it is DESIGNED to behave the way it behaves - running wild; striking the first target it hears.

Torpedo fail?

no! the torpedo works the way it is meant to work.

Kaleun fail?

yes! a free running turning torpedo in the water should make you go silent and sink.

That is the way you have been taught at naval warfare school. if you kick each other in the ass, dont come whining then!

Both of you had a communications and/ or weapon usage problem.

The early ones are a bit iffy, but they have their uses. I'd not want to load up a lot of them, but I like to have a couple in my stern tubes to keep over inquisitive escorts away. and yeah, if I want to stay and watch I stop the motors so I don't get a "return to sender".

If they've got them in base, I like to load all my aft tubes and reserves with Falke's. Great for nailing destroyers. I even had one bounce off the stern of a C class then, instead of just sinking, it picked itself up and continued to hunt its prey eventually caching it again and blowing off one of her props.

I like to use an IX, so I'll use one stern tube for homing eels, and keep the other one with regular for when a merchant happens to show up behind me so I don't have to turn round.

In case you didn't know I am able to use sonar torps without a problem. That is not my fault.
