1st Supermod for SH5 Poll!!

Some of these great mods Conflict, and some are outdated..

which means we have to make some choices we hate making for example:

Reaper7 high res ui which gives you a luvly (converted) OMEGU"ish" periscope

However, using using reaper7 mod means you cant simply use TheDarkWraith UI mod without picking apart code & merging it together individually

why cant we vote for a wolfpack team & Merge all the best mods together and glue together our first super mod for sh5?

to me it's very immature & stupid watching people bicker about mod rights..
"hey thats mine"! you cant put that in your mod!! wah wah - Just Lame

I know I cant be the first one to wish for a merged mod so if you feel the same speak up & VOTE!! for a new GWX2 Team.

first of all I will not be a part of anything that has GWX or anything of the likes in it's name. Pick a new name if you want any support/help/mods of mine in it.

In sure hope this happens someday.
I for one am contemplating giving up on Sh5 for the same reasons. I just want to play a decent uboat sim. I have started back on SH3 and GWX since Conus00 released his widescreen mod, and it is everthing I enjoy less the visuals.

If a supermod does come about there welcome to all my work, as is anybody that wants it.

k first understand I think I speak for all of us SH fans when I say
I really don't care what we call it as long as it is made.

Secondly this is not something *I* am going to personaly do for all of us..

*I* didn't do any of the hard work & efforts put into any mods
so I will leave that to those that did the actual work to decide..

The Moders will have to man up and work together placing all selfishness
aside to make this happen for all of us so don't misunderstand the poll..

I am simply trying to get public feedback/opinions so that you moders
realize that though we apriciate your work .. working together as a team
to bring us something *Really good* is even better.

so rather this happens or doesn't that is up to those who made the mods

we just want to see sh5 have its first supermod

take the best of your works and cram it into an installer.

Here is a link to a Freeware *Simplistic* Installer with several easy examples/docs
it took me about an hour to make my first installer & Highly recommend it.

Didnt we answer a poll in regards to this a month ago?

I personally am not a Modder, but speaking as a simple player:

I will NOT come back everyother day to update my MegaMod. For example. TDW is constantly coming out with updates to his beautifull mod and it'd be annoying to have to constantly update the MegaMod to be compatible with this fact.

Secondly; we are only at patch 1.2. Though many speculate this is the finale, Ubi has made no such announcement. Why create a mega mod when a simple patch will make it obsolete?

Finally, if you want a MegaMod for yourself, merge the files of the Mod you want in your file folders and enable it in JGSME. I've had to start doing this as I have upwards of 50 Mods enabled in JGSME...

Updates = Versions

If you don't like updating versions stick with alpha (that's your choice)

I would update everyday if we had a CVS

We are a pretty long way off from a proper super mod for several reasons (some of which Krauter mentioned) imo. Also, you might not want to sound insulting to the very people that you are asking to do a tremendous amount of work.

"The Moders will have to man up and work together placing all selfishness
aside to make this happen for all of us so don't misunderstand the poll"

This does not sound very motivational to me.

Basically you're looking for modders to give you what you want... all polls are for this reason. A lot of what we want merged can be done ourselves, but hey that's too hard for someone wanting what we really want.

Some modders will team up to do a supermod when they are ready, not when you or I are. They'll do it on their terms, in their time. If not then it will stink anyway. You can't pressure creative people who are not being paid and not working to a deadline. When people are in that situation you get things like SH5.

@ TheDarkWraith: While I personally do use GWX and love it, I know exactly why you feel the way you do, and I'm right there with you in your stance and your statement.

slow your roll their chief.. that was in no way insulting to either of them
nor meant to be infact...

In those statements I am simply Pointing Out & *Trying* to Avoid future
repeats from the past which we have seen before that only ends up hurting
the ones who enjoy playing Team Work Made Mods.

I am Sure those 2 are infact More Mature then that and would make
for a Very Good Team.

just something they would have to be on the same page with & take into
consideration is all... They know what I mean

I think you need to slow down. Why rush the supermod??

As Steve pointed out, rushing a creation like this gives you unwanted results.

Let our Modders take their time and release a final (or one that at least their happy with to leave alone for a week) and then start putting pieces together.

As for downloading multiple versions, my computer only has limited amount of Data. And while I can just delete the older files, I don't like having to spend more time optimizing and downloading mods then actually playing the game.

As many have pointed out, both for the mega-mod and the game.

Give it time Or we will end up with a craptacular mega-mod that will render the game unstable and/or unplayable and we will lose even more audience members

Edit: Also, while I'm at it, if you really want to roll up a quick mega-mod than man-up yourself and do it, go around and ask for permission, etc. But do it yourself. Otherwise, if you sit around telling modders to set up a Mega-Mod while they're still perfecting their masterpieces, you won't get what you want..

Also, in regards to choosing which UI Mod to use.. I personally would go with TDWs (sorry Reaper.. I never tried yours yet..) But then again, like SH4, you can have multiple Mega-Mods which cater to different people (ala TMO and RFB).

Finally, I think for a Mega-Mod to happen, we need to fix more then the Game Cosmetics and Basic Functions. We need to peel into the scripting and campaign scripts to create a realistic and/or fun campaign (again ala TMO or RFB) and get that on the table to make a Mega-Mod feasible. (on a side note, I know that Lurker was talking about doing RUB, but now that Duci is hanging around the forums, [sorry don't know if he has the game..] maybe he could bounce some ideas with a few good scripters and get something going. His TMO of SH4 is a masterpiece, itd be great if we could get something similar in SH5.) Otherwise, you basically just have a bunch of cosmetic fixes and aestetics rolled into a package that I could do myself..

Suit yourself.

Sorry for the slight Hijack..

but why would someone be against having GWX or something similar as a Mod name?

Seeing as I did not own SH3.. I do not know if there is any controversy about this. Please shed light

Insulting to either of them? Why do you speak as if there are only 2 modders? You are probably referring to TDW and reaper7, and yes, they have both done a tremendous amount of work. But, in case you have not realized, there are a lot more than just those two. What about all the work that Sober, Conus00, W_clear, and many others have done. 2 contributors would go insane trying to do everything needed for a super mod.

Edit: Oh yeah, and a big amen to what Krauter said!

there are more modders than just two working on SH5. I know there are a whole lot more than 2 And they have made great contributions to SH5 also
