Helluva game played from what I hear, if England stumble into Germany in our current state it'll be a wipeout for us.

Much better show than I expected, the Black-Whites played such that the Aussies never had a chance. Fast, precise passing, combinations, physical top fitness. More of that, please!

For reasons of fairness one must admit that the red card for Australia was exaggerated, even more so because the player had no yellow before - it should have been a yellow, and not more. The other cards they collected were justified.

But even without the red card, the blue players would have had no chance.

I am positively surprised, really!

If such a performance would be enough against Italy, Brazil, Spain, Argentinia - remains to be seen.

And as I predicted - Ballack is not being missed, not at all. The commentator said that responsibility now is evenly shared by everybody instead of putting it onto one clöaimed key player's shoulder only - maybe Ballack's absence even does more good than bad.

Germany looked the most convincing of the "big" sides so far.

Awful decision by the referee to send Cahill off , should have been a yellow card IMO - killed what was shaping up to be a great game stone dead.

And you're right - if England come second in their group they will face Germany (assuming Germany win) *gulp*

C'mon a little bit of perspective yes ?
Germany played against Australia. I mean Australia. They might be giants in rugby, but are darves in football. If Germany had lost that would have been something to worry about but winning 4-0, 3-0 even 2-0 or 1-0 is ok.

Even England was very good, except for that little error that gracefully gifted the US with an even score.

Yeah I have to agree, did you pause the game once the whistle was blown for the start of the match?

England were so uncreative and were struggling to keep possession. Lampard may aswel be a crab with the a sideway passing he did. England are pretty average, I think it has something to do with the "world class" players being average.

As for Germany, OOFT! Sit down Socceroos. Must be awful having to play the Germans in an opener. (2002 Germany 8 Saudi Arabia 0, Germany 4 Costa Rica 2) They love to start off with a bang.
They really did outclass Australia and even with the little bit of pressure in the first 3 minutes they didn't panic and simply dealt with the attack and then I think we all knew right away that it was coming.

Cahill, dirty dirty tackle. First he takes a we kick at Podolski then tackle from behind with intent into Schweinsteiger...what the hell is he thinking???? it's as bad as the guy who pleaded with the ref after the hand ball in the box. The ref was very very consistent!!

The last time I saw this many footballing jokes I was watching the Scotland squad trying to qualify.
