For me the series and Sh5 has finished!
Even if there will come a final pacth one day... it won´t fix any of these things hat make the game unplayable. instead of that it would contain some small fixes which are not realizable at all like the last patch.
I mean... the last patch took ages and ages and they kept delaying the eta without any good reason... localisation problems... yeah.. sure.
Also the made clear that priorities are now on their new super hit hawx2 and no more resources are left.
It is sooo sad... Sh5 could have become a good sequel of SH3... but in my mind they had no real intention to fullfill subsim cummunities wishes and ideas.
They wanted to release a new small revolution with easy access to the game for causal gamers... and they released a casual game which almost no one satisfies and gave the community a run for their money.
Sometimes it is better to keep old stuff and make a small evolution!
Imagine Sh3 with the graphics of Sh5....

Not that it matters, but I voted for the last one. Yup, I think its all done for. When the first patch took so long, and fixed nothing that the modders had not already fixed, and skipped things, that I thought were more important than the things that were half way fixed, I knew it was the end.

The only people that could save this franchise don't work for the company, in my opinion.

Did Ubi abandone us ? No they never arrived at the dock in the first place, we left them. Modders have taken something and ran with it, thank God. In time , I see a sub-sim simmular to a certain mega mod for SH3 everyone pretty much considers the Gold standard of sub sims.

That's what I pray for everytime I come here and look for new mods. The game has come so far in such a short period that I can see an Uber game on the radar, but not the horrizon yet.

And when it does, I hope the Modders put a bow of a ship sticking out of the water in everyport with the letters UBI on it.

I like that idea. Sad thing is, Ubi might miss the point and instead see it as free advertising.

Because of the way we have been treated with SH5 I refuse to buy spinter cell conviction and assassins creed 2 for my xbox 360.
So it works both ways although with the sales of those 2 games I honestly don't think they would give a S**T
I hate the ubisoft CEO as much as I hate that call of duty twat robert dowling and bobby kotick.
With CEO's it's all about pleasing the shareholders and profits.
All SH5 is to them is profit and if the figures don't match resources dedicated to fixing it then it's the end of the line for SH5.
The fact that the game was released in the state it was means it was pushed out early as no more resources were being dedicated to finishing what the devs wanted.
I wish Dan could tell us the true story to SH5 but as he is still on the ubisoft payroll we will never find out unless they cut the devs.

SO TRUE...

They UBI board clearly sat down and said "times are hard we are gonna have to pull the plug on the SH series." Developers replied " But sir we are only 50% complete." To which the board in turn replied "Make it playable, make it happen fast and sell the subsim community down the river. Dont worry those mugs will buy it when they see those shiny graphics!"

And thats exactly what happened, we took to bait because we have a passion for the genre, people reading this now will have bought SH5 even though they knew the game wasnt finished. We love subsimming and to hell with it, our modders will save the day. If it wasnt for them i would have stopped playing SH3 years ago.

I cant wait untill a developer actually tells the true story of why UBI have abused the goodwill of the communtiy and alienated them. I for one will no longer support their shoddy company and customer service by buying half finished, mediocre, substandard and wholly unsatisfactory products.

I don´t think that is the end of Silent Hunter series as a game but yes as a simulator . the series can continue in a different way, more arcade for consoles marquet.

No realism, no mods, only fast fire and warships in scripted campaigns , forget navigate free in the ocean, only clossed scenarios like PT boats.

The future for subsims remains in the modding of sh4-shV and perhaps some other free games.

ubi gives to us a uncut diamond but could be a hard work convert this to this

If they intend for the community to fix it then they need to open the game up and let the modders at it.
But then that will never happen either.
There's a reason pc games have such a long shelf life and that's due to people picking up games later when they have the hardware to run it and modding.
It's a shame that SH5 will end here and now.
Is there a reason why Dan won't claim they are working on patch 1.3?
I know he reads the forums.

This thread and poll, I think is a very grand example of something that is completely un needed.

First off it is yet another "let's bash Ubi" thread. It is negative, and does nothing concerning the improvement of the game.

Comparing Sh5 to God Father 2 is like comparing an old apple to a moldy orange. God Father 2 was an abortion from the day it came out. It was just a vehicle to get some money from first person shooter fans, in answer to Grand Theft auto.

The OP said that GF2 was was better than the stock version of Sh5 is unbelievably wrong. My friend got that game and IT NEVER RAN RIGHT. It crashed as often as SH4 stock.

That being said. The choices of the poll are all much the same except for the one that actually supports the game, which is phrased in a manner that only a blind fool would say.

That being said. I have stated this before. If I was a dev for UBI and saw the treatment handed to me BEFORE the game came out, I would have told the community to eff off.

It is too early to tell what the fate of SH5 is. It is also way to early to tell the fate of the SH series.

A key thing we seem to forget. Sh5 on most of our computers is not what UBI put a lot of work in. How much work did UBI put into making the environment? Well most of that work is thrown out by the environmental mods. That is just one example. Why should a dev put time into putting something together if it is just going to be changed by a modder to something is superior?

I am not a rabid fan boy. I am very much aware of how terrible aspects of the game are, however I don't see the point of continuing to slam UBI with polls and threads like this.

Normally I'd agree, I mean 7 of the posts on the front page of this forum are little more than "SH5 sucks" trolls, however this post had views for both for and against.

But really, Ubisoft has been totally out of contacts for MONTHS. They deserve this kind of bashing if only for that. They've fully explained DRM time and time again. They haven't explained why there's apparently no support at all for Silent Hunter.

Patch 1.2 was barely mentioned, a month late and we only knew that because we translated the German forums, when it finally came out there's been no response to feedback and the problems still broken in the patch. Basically Ubisoft hasn't said word one to us since the game came out. That's utterly unacceptable.

It's now been another month since the patch came out (the patch isn't even listed on ubisoft.com btw...) and the silence still stands. Sure Dan's posted here or there at SubSim, but NO ONE from Ubisoft has posted on their main official forums and Dan's posts here have been little more than "oh yeah" and "that's neat" type posts, nothing official that he's stated, and I wouldn't expect him to have to. He's here as a friend of the site, not an official Ubisoft rep.

The total lack of communication from Ubisoft is just appalling. I've thrown down the gauntet to them on their forums and got a response from one of their forum managers, the only tenuous contact we have with the company, and she's said she'll try to get an answer to my question of: Yes, there will be at least one more patch or No, Silent Hunter is over and unsupported as of now.

That Yes/No answer is the bare minimum that we customers deserve from Ubisoft and will help determine the direction of modding and the end goal of SH5. If they say Yes, maybe we can get some things like minefields fixed. If they say No, work can begin on trying to add those things to the game and working on a new full war campaign can begin.

Privateer definitely has the right attitude, but without knowing if anything more is coming from Ubisoft we're just left too much in the dark.

I choose not to wait for another patch.
I'll do what I can now and fix things later if the need arises.
I'll also state here and now,
I'll be looking into other options.
Dll hooks and such.

The saying goes,
If it ain't broken?
Don't fix it.
SH5 does not follow this saying!
It's broken!

If it was a Dog we'd shoot it!
