That's interesting since it doesn't affect the weather patterns at all - just the weather you get at the very start of the patrol. The links provided by tomfon will lead you to some mods that really do help with the weather pattern problem, and one of them even mentions that SH3 Weather can break the fixes and restore the original weather problems.

I use it anyway because I like the random weather when I start out. On the other hand my last couple of patrols I've had weather changes quite often, including a big storm that lasted less than one day.

Quite true. As I mentioned, all SH3 Weather does is change the starting weather. One thing I like about it is that when I start a patrol with SH3 Commander it automatically brings up SH3 Weather's screen before it loads, and gives me the option. I actually use several external tools, including Commander, Weather, SH3 Contacts and SH3 Gen.
