Default Skins converted for AI sub use

You may have seen my other thread about skinning AI subs. I used Fubar's skin for the Type VII and the weathered camouflaged skin from Sean's skin pack for the Type IIB. In time I will probably convert some more skins for use with the AI subs. If you don't have the AI subs, you can get it here:

http://web.telia.com/~u18230645/

I compressed the files with 7Zip. It took it from 213MB to only 27MB! You will need the latest version of WinRar or the 7Zip program to uncompress.

Fubar's Type VII skin can be found here:

http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=42568&

I uploaded it to Rapidshare.

Just noticed it was also on terrapin's site for download. Thanks terrapin!

Downloading now , thanx. It would be cool if you did more AI-skins.

I was going through the skins I downloaded and couldn't decide which one to do next. What are some skins that would like to be seen on an AI sub? Well, I buess it is really just for the 7c41, because there are only a few IIA skins (mainly Sean's). I will probably do all the IIA skins I have. The IIB model in the game is really the IIA, just renamed for AI use.

I went through and converted all the Type IIA skins I had for use with the AI Type IIB. The file size is about 29MB. It is a simple copy and paste of the respective included data folders. If you want to get an idea of what the sub skin looks like there is a TGA layout included. I am currently uploading it to terrapin's site. I'm not sure how long it will take and once it gets uploaded how long it will take to go online. Hopefully it won't take too long. This is my first time uploading to terrapin's site. The file name will be IIB AI Sub Skins so keep an eye out for it.

Well, I got the Type VII skins done for the AI subs. I converted all the Type VII skins I had downloaded. The file is 96.3MB so it will take me a while to upload the file (probably an hour or more). Uploading again to terrapin's site. The file name will be called 7c41 AI Sub Skins. It is again in the 7Zip format. It was orginally 673MB!

Little question: is it a mod of yours, or you are just quoting Fubar's?

Well, I buess it is done. Got done a bit quicker than I anticipated. When it finished I noticed something about a 70MB limit. Sorry about that terrapin. I didn't see it when I uploaded it.

Will it still have uploaded all the way?

If the upload works, I guess you could delete the original AI Sub Skins file. With the IIB and 7c41 collection done, that file is pretty much irrelevent.

The skins aren't mine. Like I said above, I converted the ones I had downloaded for use with the AI sub mod by sergbuto. I've got The Gimp, but that is a pain to use for skinning. Never does what I want it to. I would have liked to do a tugboat skin.

Worked, surprisingly... (the limitation has something to do with the fact that http file transfers are generally not a stable solution...this is why I'm recommending ftp for larger files.

I'll start transferring it anytime, will take a while, though (swamped with other tasks...)

That's good. When I uploaded the file the other day I did read the note at the top of the page. Being the file was well under 70MB I didn't think anything of it. This time, I forgot all about it. I didn't read the message at the top. At least this time I remembered to make the readme the same name as the file.
