Hi chaps,

I made a new radio antenna model in Maya, probably not up to the standards of our expert modellers but I'm quite pleased for a first effort.
I've just got to add the lightmap (not shown here) when I get in from work. I've only got one more day and then my free Maya 30 day trial comes to an end and so does my work with anything 3D as there's no way that I can afford to buy it but it's been a lot of fun.

I'll hopefully be able to post a small video later (youtube upload time permitting) showing it raising and lowering as well as the other new stuff for v4.

Best Regards to all

With the gift you obviously have maybe it's time we users of your work could set up a fund to enable a purchase. Just throwing it out there fellow Kaleuns, what you think?
Couple dollars donated each should cover it, I'm up for the first 10.

Best regards.

I think the cheapest version of Maya is about $1500.
Aces have you considered using Blender? It's free, open source and has the features you'd need for making model like this. I use it myself for modelling on occassion.

Great work by the way.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the tip on Blender, I'll have a look, i'm finding all this 3d stuff absolutely fascinating.

Today I've been working on a few things, i've added water reflections to the new radio antenna and flag masts and tweaked a few other things which I'll be testing tonight.

More news later.

Best regards

@ Aces : the idea of a contribution seems to be honest.

Just needs to set min. price.

Hi chaps,

Been working very hard on the mod, here's a few new pics:

Top left : New mug in Command Room the coffee should slosh about during diving, surfacing, depth charges etc.

Bottom Left: I have added Testpilot's UZO in place of the one stored in the CT.

Top Right: Added a chief angineer "Johann" to the engine room. Also shown optional blue texture for engine parts.

Bottom Right: Optionla texture to change cards and card box to "Skat" game.

New objects on the bridge.

Top Left : British NAFI issue captured Navy Cut cig packet.

Bottom Left : Tommi's pressurised 20cm ammo container.

Top Right: Ammo crates, binoculars and MG34.

Bottom Right : German wartime "Privat" cig packet.

Top left : Testpilots UZO with tommi's flagpole in background.

Bottom Left : Closeup on Testpilot's UZO (now rotatable through 360 degrees in game to match UZO camera direction) and also not visible underwater.

Top Right and bottom right : Turm showing all new objects etc. including Testpilot's DF Antenna (shown here extended) and lifebelt and a new Radio Antenna (shown here extended) which is raised/lowered with the SHIFT+A/CTRL+A key combinations.

Nearly there chaps, should be wrapped up by the coming weekend all being well, phew!!!! this has been hard going but a lot of fun.

Just to recap, "Super Turms v4" will included (for the type 7c1 turm)

(Reads like a "Who's who" of top modding tallent)

Flakmonkey's Twisty periscope (lightmapped by me)
Flakmonkey's exterior lightmaps (redone specially by Flakmonkey)
Privateer's Turm Emblems Your Way.
Tommi's Flagpoles and ammo container (lightmapped by me)
Testpilot's DF Antenna, UZO, Lifebelt. (lightmapped by me)
New Radio rod antenna by myself.
Requires Anvarts Flag, pennants and DF Antenna mod)
New Turm emblems by Private Godfrey and Tarjak.
New objects on the bridge lightmapped by me with some new textures by me.

Full credits, thanks and permissions to be included in the readme and the launch posting.

Best regards

Impressive, massive work mate. I'm thrilled! Bravo!

PS. What about your mounted MG 34 idea?

Incredible work, Aces! Looks just fantastic!

Only one suggestion...Any chance of an alternate skin for the engineer? He looks very formal for working in an engine room. Maybe something like pants and a stained t-shirt?

Hi chaps,

I couldn't do the t.shirt as that would entail remodelling but I did a "quick and dirty" excuse the pun and changed his clothes and dirty them (and him) up somewhat.

Cheers
