The missing crew slots when you move your deck gun is a stock bug.

Go to this link and it will tell you how you can set up your crew for your deck gun:

That seems to be for being able to fire the deck gun yourself, as the complaint in that thread is that only the crew can man the guns (with the two gun upgrade). This is rather the opposite problem, no? So will it work?

Also, the file in that link pertains to saved games. Shouldn't this be fixeable in SH4's Data folder?

Kissaki,

As I recall, you can only fire the forward deck gun if 2 guns are installed. The game does not allow you to select which gun you can fire manually.

The OP's question was how to set up the crew slots to man the gun with "crew members". The link I indicated was for setting up the crew slots for the new gun.

As far as I know you can not change the data file in the game, it is hard coded, you can only change the save files.

Thanks for the reply. There is no trouble firing the deck gun manually, but as none of the crew can be assigned to it, its operation is slow (and can only be done manually). I haven't had any trouble with the manual part as of yet, but then I haven't tried the dual-mount variant.

I am sailing on a Porpoise, by the way, and never had this problem on my S-18. I thought maybe upgrading to a rear mount instead of the bow mount would fix things, but it didn't, as others have pointed out here.

But I think I'll tamper with the file now, and see how that works out.
