Hi Kafka !

In german ubi-Forum we can change Thread Title by yourself (via editing first post), here at SubSim, IIRC, can only moderators change Thread Title ! Please contact a moderator and then they do it for you !

Best regards,
Magic

Kafka BC

Never become dejected or feel negative about a lack of response and certainly never take it personally.

People often simply move on to the next thread after having d/l the mod/work and either forget or don't feel the need to leave either thanks or feedback.

This does not mean they don't rate said work or appreciate it etc. but is simply the way of the forum.

Take a look at my FF page as an example.....you will find some links with hundreds and thousands of d/l but I can assure you I've not received an equal number of thanks or positive messages.

The number of d/l tells me and any other modder how successful and appreciated said work is.

Keep the faith....you'll get your reward in heaven.

This is, I can assure you, probably the best community on the internet.

SINK EM ALL!!

KafkaBC - Just to update you, I have just tried the new version of the moon using my scene.dat import method and it works perfectly mid-patrol. I like the increase in moon contrast, it looks like the same moon i stared at for hours as a kid too!

I did think your reply to JScones about "half the sky" was an offhand remark. But it wasn't just yours. If you and the others tried it, you didn't say so. I was left with the impression that people took one look at the images, left their remark, and left.

I made this moon to replace the stock moon, so that I and others can look at Tycho, Copernicus, and other moon craters in the game during an interlude, like a coffee break. I had no intention of making one to replace Carotio's or anyone else's SmallMoon Mod, you can't see the craters then. I just didn't want the thread to have a bunch of posts about moonsize. Maybe I overreacted, for that I apologize.

I also apologize for missing your first post. I had just replied to a post from jimbuna and probably went away from my computer to do other things. I either forgot, got mixed up, or didn't see it.

So as amends, this is the best I can do:

I can't make another moon from scratch, there were enough headaches and headbanging on the first one, but what I can do is a cut and paste job. I've taken the images from my 512x512 file and put them into a bigger 4 meg 1024x1024 resolution file. I guess that makes it HiRes...whether that makes it the right size, I don't know. I've also resized that file back down to a 1 meg 512x512 version for those who may want that. But the resizing has reduced the image quality and makes it look like hell in my opinion. Maybe not to others.

Will this do?

jimbuna,

Man, I guess that I should have never made that rant. Everybody seems to think I'm going to kill myself.

As I told Magic and Viper, I worded it wrong. I'm not strong on composing, spelling, and typing replies and posts, and it takes me awhile to get what I want to say down. Sometimes I get it wrong.

I was trying to make a point. I didn't want to hear or have discussions about smallmoon mods. I wasn't looking for praise either. I wanted to know if it worked and everything looked okay enough for me to move on to other things, thats all.

Guess I should have put "Please Test" in the title of the thread. I should have thought of that...next time.

Thanks for your concern,
Kafka BC

This maybe so. But for sheer dedication to a maligned game, nothing beats the MOO3 forums. Lets see if its still up, yes it is: Evon 1.2.5 From the ot thread Condensed the greatest chronology of a game war ever. The fan made patches and mods have made it a rock that shines like a jewel when you learn to play it.

Sorry, I will always plug them if I get a chance.

Now, thats what I was aiming for.

I can now die happy. Whoops, I shouldn't say that or everybody will be all over me again.

Cheers,
Kafka BC

I'm in mid-patrol, but I'm planning on installing this and give it a 'look-see' first chance I get!

I am to. The Small Moon feels "colder" somehow. You don't need to test it, just go on playing with the bigger Moon and let me know if there are problems. Getting it to work for you was the major road block...I think.

Regards,
Kafka BC

If that is you in the picture, don't try. You got a beard.

Huh. That was easier than I thought. I thought that I was going to have to figure out arcs, degrees, do calculations, and redo everything to please the Supermods/Realism Mods crowd. Guess I shouldn't have been so resistant.

Enjoy,
Kafka BC

I'll stick the bugga in a GWX testing installation and give you some honest feedback

Don't forget to pop that cheque in the post
