In that order. I'm not playing till those three are addressed.
Standimeter is fixed with TDW's NewUI. AI will probably have to be fixed by the players (see Feared Hunters, that combined with a reworked campaign will probably do it).

What's wrong with the hydrophone though?

  • Fix the damned tap-dancing captain.
  • Add rudder control to the UI (similar to the new compass).
The list could be a lot longer, but many improvements have already been mentioned by other posters.

Agree 100%

I play a lot of MMO's and the one thing that they all have in common is that they let a number of the players play test the new expansions.

I'm not saying that all of us should have tested - but some of us should have been beta testers for sure. I'm thinking some of the experienced modders should have been invited. Surely they would have found the more glaringly obvious bugs - and maybe they could have advised them on any changes to the theme of the game.

I know it's all pie in the sky now , but it seems to me that this was UBI's biggest mistake.

Just keep bending over.
Sad thing is, I'd go for that, as long as the patch brought improvement.

My way of thinking: I spend a lot of time on SH. An extra $10 divided by a lot of hours is very little.

I can blow $10 easily on my other hobbies... a gallon of glow fuel for my radio controlled aircraft can cost $20-$30 (it lasts a month or so, the way I fly). I can blow through a good ebook in a couple days (~$6-$8). If I bring the wife to dinner to a decent restaurant instead of Wendy's or eating at home... there goes a lot more than $10 for a couple hours of "entertainment" ( Get your mind out of the gutter. We're married... that doesn't happen any more ).

I know that little phrase about throwing good money after bad, but if I knew that spending an extra $10 would bring more fixes to SH5, I'd pony up in a NYC minute.

But I can see why too, there's just too much muck and slime to read through to get to what we want and have reported.
It's much easier to listen to what their own in house testers have to say than sift though the thousands of post's here.

and

I read the Patch 1.2 Feedback thread entirely last night. What did I find? Four or five people trying to communicate in a hail storm. Who wants to sift through that?

Reading some thread and deducing why this Game is what is is?
That's like deduceing why there's a crap load of oil off the Gulf coast.
It's not rocket science for the love of all that's dear!
Look at past things, improve on that, make a better product.
Seems 1 and 2 were thrown out the door.
Makeing a better product now is just a Marketing term.

Things that have failed to be patched as promised :-

From 1.2 patch notes

•Fixes for crewmen showing under water under certain conditions
•Fixes for ships exploding in ports for unapparent reasons or hitting the shore
•Fixed torpedo doors
•Fixed several dials that were not working inside the submarine (if they fixed several, then they didnt fix the ones i looked at)
•No more crewmen on burning ships
•Crewmen on deck change clothes during bad weather (I've not check this one, but i've not heard anyone say its fixed yet)

•SH4 ships can now be imported in SH5 – useful for modders (But not fully)
•Some tweaks to AI (I've not fully tested this yet)

And these must have fixes to make the game playable

The stedimeter
Rudder controls (only being able to turn 1 degree or full is annoying)

Just to add..... The modders have done more for SH5 then UBI have.

I think the best way forward is:

1.The community to create a generic wish list.

2. Forum mods + experienced members to filter and consolidte the feedback into a 'sensible list' (removing all the drama comments).

3. Have the modding community pull the 'sensible list' apart to decide what can/can't be done.

4. What can't be done in the opinion of the mod community forms the next patch wish list.

Then someone in the know needs to have some kind of dialog with the devs to see what happens next, even an answer of NO is better than no information at all atleast you know where you stand then.

As you said the most important ... I say animation improvements, the crew runs in diving emergency , plus crew inside the submarine , more food is gone with the days of patrol, crew training in the sub up port band , pretty nurses, write my own logbook , etc, etc, etc,

Hey, now I'm starting to see some semblance of organized thought. I'd be glad to help.

I think that's out of reach for the one or two people most likely still working on patches for the game (and that's assuming anyone is still working on patches for the game.)
