I have SH4 on Steam.
They never made a v1.4 update, so I was "forced" to buy the U-Boat expansion (v1.5)

Looks like they're keeping this trend with SH5.
If/when I buy SH5, I won't buy it on Steam for this reason. If they can't provide updates in time (if at all!) then I'll stay away.

I don't plan to play SHV until at least patch 1.4.

Heck, who am I kidding? We'll be lucky to get a hotfix for the things 1.2 broke, let alone 1.3...

GWX 5?

Please?

Pretty please?

It's entirely playable with current mods and will just keep getting better. You're totally missing out on some good gameplay.

Don't blame Steam that ubisoft don't supply patches for digital distribution.

Still waiting... I've now decided to demand a refund.. Maybe I'll buy SH5 again when it's US$10 and in a state worthy for release.

Incredible, still no patch for steam. Now, as an user suggest, i'm going to reinstall the game and i'll try to patch it...no words.

Perfect, when you thought it couldn't get worse.. 13th now and still no steam patch. I had little hope it would fix the game totally, but perhaps it would be playable. But the way it looks i might never find out.. I regret clicking the "buy" button on this occasion.

I've heard two sides to this argument.
One side says what you say, the other says that it's Steam's responsibility to configure the patches to work on the games you buy from them. I'm not sure which one to believe because I don't have access to their contracts.

Regardless of whose responsibility it is, it hurts the customer and therefore shouldn't be supported with our money.

My first impulse is to blame Ubi, because every other game I've bought on Steam has updated within 24 hours of a patch release. On the other hand, if I had bought SH5 on Steam (I haven't bought it at all yet), I'd be upset that I had paid money to Steam as a proxy for the game company, and wasn't getting the benefit of timely updates.

This is just a guess, but one reason for the delay might be integration issues between Ubi's DRM and Steam's own authentication methods. Especially if the new patch includes changes in that area. It's stacking DRM on top of DRM, which has to be more complicated than just releasing a patch for the standalone game. If that's the case, then feel free to get mad at both companies!
