Default [TEC] single core and the mods

Dear all,
i am one of those desperate for the new patch so i can play on my single core processor but i was wondering if i add the mods will it make it worse? are the enviromental mods for example designed to work on dual core only? or will i get the benefit too?

if not, not much point in me modding! lol
many thanks
kind regards
Simon

The mods aren't designed to work on any specific core. Theyr just modifications to the base sh5 graphics, etc. So once the patch comes out we are all going to have to wait a few hours because us modders are going to need to check what files of our mods need to be altered to work with the patch but I can almost guarantee that if a certain visual works post 1.2 and you mod it, then it should still work just fine. Mods don't care about cores.

I've been running the game quite successfully on my ancient AMD single core 3000+ Athlon since day 1. The only time you really get slowdown is in a huge port or when the exploding ships do their "fireworks display" and that is going to be fixed very soon. Any mods I have installed so far have done little or nothing to impact frame rates. Give it a try on your old machine you might be pleasantly surprised I was going to upgrade but changed my mind when I saw that the game actually ran quite well (just turn the dynamic shadows off).

The game runs fine on my single core processor (Athlon 3500+). I have screen res of 1280 x 1024 and all settings on Max (except particles which are on lowest setting). I even have dynamic shadows turned on. I also have many mods installed and get over 60 fps. and over 30fps when im in command room with about 10 DD's looking for me. The only problem i have is with water spray and explosions. Most times the waterspray and explosions are like slide shows (but im still getting high fps). So i never notice the slideshow like waterspray and explosions (unless i watch them closely).

And after patch this should be fixed.

i can confirm the game runs great on single core CPU's, even with many mods.

Good Hunting.

My machine specs :-

Athlon 3500+
Radeon HD4870 (1 GB gddr5)
4 GB RAM
windows XP Pro

Hi everyone!

I have a Quadcore processor and still experience slide shows whenever particle effects are involved... I hope the patch is going to fix that for me, too (?).
My specs: AMD Phenom X4, 4 Gig of RAM (Corsair Dominator), ATI HD 5770, Win7 64Bit Home.
Well, lets hope.

Hi everyone!

I have the patch installed (and a bunch of mods)... I still see VERY poor performance when a ship is burning. My frames drop below ten if I go close with the external camera... Is that normal? I have QuadCore (Phenom II X4) and 4 Gigs of RAM, graphics ATI HD 5770.

Is there anything I could do about it? I have heard about CPU control... Does that work? Anything?

Some people have noticed improvements by setting the process to a high priority. you need to pull up the task manager while the game is running, right click it and choose high priority, realtime, for me, makes sound issues.
