I use Carotio's "GWX-TA1.3_Moonmod-Small" mod. Always been quite happy with it...certainly prefer the smaller moon size.

Finally! I've gone through every moon on the market and i feel that this one takes the prize!

I used to use Ail small moon mod-- but with OLC's environment mod the moon is just a little bigger than the size of a star. Using your moon with OLC's environment mod looks great! Perfect size, great lunar shadows, and life-like colouring. Thank you for uploading! (only problem is, OLC turned off moon reflections. I suppose i could turn it on, but i wonder if it will cause any other problems...)

Magic1111- do you have any other mods that add files to the texture folder? try reversing the order. If that doesn't work, this may be an "enable at port mod". My method was to import the moon.tga into the scene.dat using S3D. Let me know if you need help doing this.

Thanks, but I have already tried both of those moons.

The images used for them are shot from either a powerful telescope or from space, and through a polarizing filter to increase the contrast and bring out details. Hence the green coloring of the Mares (Seas) in the one from MEP, which makes it look like a cultivated planet.

My Moon Mod is intended to emulate how the moon looks normally through atmospheric haze.

Regards

I really don't know what may be causing your problem. All I can suggest is a mod confict as ViperU48 says, or maybe the file is corrupted somehow. It works fine on my stock installation.

The only thing that I did different in making this mod was, with the exception of the New Moon, the in-game moon image is generated by the .tga file's alpha layer while the grey coloring is generated by the main image. I hope that isn't it as it would mean that it is useless to most (maybe all) other players.

Let me know if you get it sorted out.

Regards,
Kafka BC

Thanks for the positive feedback...I was beginning to think all my work was for naught. I am especially glad to hear that it works with OLC's environment because I was thinking of importing the skybox from it to the stock environment that I am working on.

For the moon's reflection I copied the settings from another environment mod (can't remember which, one of REECE's I think) and have had no ill effects.

Glad you like it. Regards

Hello Kafka !

I´ve no chance to activate your MOD during Mid-Patrol in Texture Folder !

I´ve a question: Please look at this Moon.tga

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

And this is your Moon.tga:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Why is a different with your Moon.tga and the other ? On your Moon.tga is only one Moon showing and a "Frame" around the Moon in your tga ?

All Moon.tga I know has not only one Moon in the File !

I think this is the Problem to activate your File !

Best regards,
Magic

No, that is the way it is supposed to be.

The single moon that you see is used for the New Moon phase where the image's light intensity is regulated by the alpha layer. Your moon is using a repeated image and using images in the alpha layer to provide the different shadings for the moon phases. As I said, I am using the alpha layer to provide the moon's image and shading by regulating the transparency of the blank, slightly grey area that you see. That way, if you want a yellow moon, you can just color in that blank area. You leave it white if the image's colors are regulated by the game.

It is an accepted practice, and there are several files in the game that do that to a small degree - the sun for example.

Here are the different alpha layers.

Here is another shot from my install.

All I know is that it works for me and I can't fathom why it will not for you.
I hope you (or someone) can figure it out. I am at a loss.

Regards,
Kafka BC

Magic TRY THIS.

It occurred to me that your problem might be that the file was not made or saved in Adobe Photoshop, I use TgaTool2 and an old version of Paint Shop Pro.

So I installed my copy of Photoshop and spent all the last day trying to learn it (what a nightmare) and managed to recreate the file from my working files with a slight (3%) increase in contrast.

Try this version and see if that is the problem.
