I really look forward to installing SH4 on my puter.
Ducimus strongly recommended playing it with the latest patch (v1.5) and the UBM.
and who am I to doubt his position?!

I been giving SH4+UBM+OM (+German voices) a go and so far its pretty good. Funny things is, I've ended up turning SH4 into and kind of enhanced SH3 lol.

It does run a little choppy sometimes, my machine only just reaches the ability to run it ok. I'll keep at it for a few days to try out all the new and different things before picking up my SH3 career again.

Some parts are growing on me though, I do like the Gato class, its a chunky looking beast and I'm intruiged about its potential when compared against the U-Boats.

Thanks, I think I will give WAC a try and see what I think

In my opinion, SH3 still looks quite nice and I've never been one for eye-candy simply because more eye candy = reduced gameplay values (obviously not in every case though)

It seems delevopers who concentrate on graphics tend to place gameplay and realism at a secondary position. Someone over at Ubisoft seemed to think a game needs to look outstanding in order to keep up with todays gaming market and to appeal to a wide audience.
This is an obvious blunder, I know people who have X-Box360 and still play Resident Evil 1 (PS1 version) because its such a damned good game.

I'll gladly play SH3 till im 90 years old, even though it has many bugs and quirks I am totally comfortable with them, I know SH3 like its an old but eccentric relative. Its been a part of my life for so many years that I'll never leave it behind for something thats a little prettier.

I tried SH4 with OP Monsun different times.
But as u can see in the screenshots from nemo7 i really dont like the crew.
They are looking somehow like american comics to me. Sure SH3 Crew also not state of the art but they looking somehow real to me.
For me its an immersion killer if im in my boat and watching cartoons awaiting my orders....

I bought SH III and SH IV as one package, but I have not installed IV due to the fact that I am focusing in on playing III right now.

I think I finally settled on what to do, theres no denying SH4 is a good game/simulation, and will only get better over time as more and more mods are released. Theres also no denying that some bits of SH4 are a little irritating or unrealistic (one of the crew members looks like he belongs in a carboard box down some dark alley drinking meths)
But it does have some good features.

SH4+UBM+OM doesnt even measure up halfway to what SH3+GWX has to offer (in my opinion) so I'll be sticking with SH3 for my German Careers.
But I'll also be starting an American career using SH4+RFB (the Gato is quite appealing)

Best of both worlds this way, and best of both theatres and nations!
