Default [REQ] Separate engine controls

What about this mod? I remember we talked about that since SH3... Is it possible for SH5?
Would be great to be able to turn faster for dock maneuvres and for escaping tactics...

no prob Dark you're doing a great job, thank you!
I'm not asking to do the mod, just if it would be possible because i heard that all the boats in SH5 has only one point of propulsion

there are two dials for propulsion but then again SH3 and 4 had two dials available but no matter what you set them to it didn't do anything other than issue one speed command to both shafts.

i'm not a modder and maybe i'm wrong but i think that we see two propellers but the code of the game is made to "see" only one propeller... in that case i think will be impossible to have 2 points of propulsion (left/right)
I hope not...

When you're recharging batteries only one propeller spins. The other machine is at higher RPM as well. So it's technically possible to make the propellers do separate things at the same time, I'm not sure we have access to that level of control though.

sorry english is not my language so it's difficult to explain for me...i mean, even if you see just one propeller moving (recharging betteries) it doesnt mean that the spin is made by that propeller. The code could be implemented to see only one point for spin, maybe between the propellers...

Another problem: if the u boat used only one propeller for spin while recharge batteries, it means that using only one propeller doesnt make the boat turn... or maybe they used a little correction on the rudder to move srtaight?

If they did, it would show up in the rudder dial, wouldn't it?
One solution for adding seperate engine functionality, would be to give a starting rudder value that would show up as 0 in the dials
Then you would have something like this
Gear1 Gear2 Rudder
1 1 0
1 2 +0.1(for example, i can calulate it)
1 3 +0.2
1 4 +0.3
1 5 +0.4
2 1 -0.1
2 2 0
2 3 +0.1
2 4 +0.2
.....

It's not so easy to say...maybe the game don't show this correction on the dial.
Or in a bad case it means that using separate engines control havn't any influence on the boat course...

On a related note, would it be possible to do the long range trick advertised in the loading screens? Where a u-boat would only run one engine but spin both shafts by way of the motors?

And on another related note, is it possible to have seperate animations for the left and right engines so that when charging batteries you can see that one engine is clearly running faster than the other, instead of just differing tachometer dials?
