Putting lights in their PC is indeed their choice—as is what brand PC, or how much they spend on it.

Putting ghetto lights in a PC is a juvenile design choice, yet I doubt we'll see any threads about how idiotic all lighted PC owners are, and how every single cent spent on that is not only wasted money, but actually does the exact opposite of what the desired goal is* for that extra cash (*apparently improving aesthetics).

So anyone paying extra for ugly is just as dumb as someone paying extra for attractive products then, right? (sure it's subjective, but graffiti and low-riders are pretty to some people, too—people with no taste.

These threads are exactly the same.

Being religious about hardware is silly. I hate the noise my PC makes, but I need it for some purposes (read: games), so I keep building new ones. I like the dead silence of the iMac and powerbook for surfing in rooms with other activities, so I put those there. Do I pay more? Yeah, I guess I do, but it's not making me miss any meals—also, since they need not be bleeding edge machines (web stuff, pictures, video editing), I keep these longer.

My PC was cheaper to build for more horsepower, but I update it at least twice as often as I replace one of these macs. Heck, we keep a laptop in the kitchen. Surfing, recipes, that sort of thing. Until last month the laptop was an original Mac Powerbook Titanium. A G4 from the summer of 2001—never shut down, BTW, and only restarted on system upgrades). So I made do with a quiet, 8.5 year old machine, the cost per year was pretty cheap, even if the initial investment was high. Again, different needs, different machines.

Maybe if I was constrained to only have one I'd care more.
