Glad to hear somebody appreciates Operation Flashpoint as what it is instead of saying Call of Duty is much better...

Air : Wings of Prey (funny title - bad translation I guess) on realistic mode it is really breathtaking + you can fly hurricanes and spitz aswell as me109s+JU87s

Land : Operation Flashpoint Resistance + WWII mods for that realistic infantry experience

Sea : Silent Hunter 4 + Op Monsun and full manual targetting 100% realism, always trying to recreate das boot (succeeding regularly)

anyway, those are my personal favourites

Don't get me started on Op Flash! The times I spent just crawling and hiding in the bushes, peering through binoculars for threats, just to make a dash for the next tree line....or the mad chaos of combat where you just open up in the general direction of the enemy and then run hell for leather with your squad for cover not knowing if the next whizzing bullet you hear will be the one that gets you. Even Arma II didn't have that feeling. It felt too Ghost Recon like. I just wanted to be a grunt(preferably Soviet/Russian ) and not the trend these days where you're always some uber-equipped SpecOps killer.

For me it has to be Rowan's Mig Alley (released in 1998 I believe).

It has pretty realistic flight models, good AI, but most of all it puts you "right there". It has some of the best AI radio communications I've ever seen in a sim (next to Falcon 4) and the campaign is simply a gem: it's really a strategy game inside a flight sim. And then there are those little details: if you destroy enough trucks the enemy will be using mule convoys, or if you destroy their depots they will start hiding supplies in the woods.

On the downside it is plagued by some serious bugs that were never fixed, and the software itself is also rather unstable. In fact I've put the game aside many times in frustration because of this, but I always find myself coming back. And still play it today...

It's pushing it to say it's actually a sim, but for history buffs who also enjoy gaming and have powerful pc's... I'd say Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway is a must. The first one was great too, but a little aged now. The game is more of a tactical sim for infantry in WW2. Some moments are better than others and it has more COD influence than it needed, but still worth it. Oh, and some cheesy dialogue too. I give it an
As for true sim: I guess IL2 was the last one I really got into. Never was very good at combat flight sims though...

So that is all addon packs for Microsoft's Flight sim 10? Amazing, going to have buy that I think.
Any suggestions for decent joystick or rudder or whatever setup for controls for flight sims these days?

Falcon 4 in all of it's guises.
Aces of the deep.
Over Flanders Field ( so what if it's a CFS3 mod? It's still better than many 'proper games I've bought and played.
