I tried this method and i also crash out of the game or,nothing happens at all.I also tried using F5VIIB and F8VIIB to see if that would make any difference and i found i could start in the "Western Approaches" phase of the campaign.
I also wondered if one of the mods i have installed some how conflicted with this but i couldnt see anything obvious.

Thanks for your help

Hector.

Mods have nothing to do with it. Do it once more and carefully step by step. Since it works for someone (screen included) it must work for anyone else.

You NEED TO start a new campaign it`s not like you get VIIB during your progress (it may happen like you said you got one in "western approaches" but it is unlikely and not tested). And don`t forget to backup everything you changed.

Edit: if you also use "flotillas.upc" file restarting career is a must since it changes also dates of VIIB and C avaliability.
After patch 1.2 you will be forced to start new career anyway since it changes vital files too.

I dont understand why people want to sail the VIIB if the conning tower isent even correct and thus the model is broken.

Wait for the patch to have something more correct.
In the meantime go to the narvik mission on April 13 1940 and look for the early VIIB. Just enjoy it.
The VIIB that has a "Wrong" conning tower is just a VIIB as it lookes after modification during the war.
In the missions you can find it in the Bismark mission.

Why do people insist saying that there was a tower upgrade for the VIIB that featured a type VIIC conning tower. Its just not true and there isent any evidence for this. Also it you mean that this will be corrected by the devs in the patch then you are wrong. It doesnt say anything about this in the release notes. If you mean that the modders will fix this , well nobody has been able to modyfie anything on the 3-d model as of yet.

Actually the only thing i have always wanted is an early VIIB like those shown (U-47) (or U-52 shown in a photo with 52 written in huge numbers) in the profile books like Orbis Publishing about the Weapons Encyclopedia in 1984-1986.
I didnt like the VIIB with a cut tower in SH3 which was JUST one of different versions. I like the early VIIB better.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.

I do know the difference between documents folder and main installation folder thankyouverymuch, but I still get crashes everytime I try.
