You should be able to sinkt them easily enough by simply throwing your empty deck gun shell casings at em

I must have said something to anger BdU or another high-ranking military or political officer: U-48, the pride of the 7. Unterseebootsflottille, has been assigned to AN84, the eastern approach to the English Channel. Yeah, that's going to work out just fine in early July 1940.

Thankfully, I've now got the 2cm FK C/30 Flakzwiling, so maybe I can bloody Coastal Command's nose if I get jumped in the shallow water around here.

1943-10-19
U-292 (VIIC/41)
1st Flotilla, Brest

on the way to the assigned grid FC76 a large convoy was radioed and U-292 went flank to intercept.
in the afternoon 30merchants and 7DDs could be made out. as there were 9columns it was decided to infiltrate between the second and third column after it was confirmed that they sailed on a steady course of 13° at a speed of 6kn. after reaching the attack-location in grid DS9649 (where the convoy had to arrive at 9p.m. so the darkness was on our side) U-292 went to 20m silently.
we awaited the first row to run over us and ascended to PD. sea was heayv with 15m/s winds so we tried to force our luck to spend just one aal per vessel and to go for the bow.
out of 5aale just one missed, the AOB must have been calculated wrong. but the other four hit!

3of4 went down soon, just one ore-freighter struggled for life (without success)

it was the most successful convoy-attack (~ 25k tons) that late in war for the Kaleu:

as soon as the first aal hit, we flanked to 200m and evaded without being detected!
a very rare situation in the meanwhile .....

Midway through the third patrol of U-19 (Type IIA)

Two ships sunk.
Granville Freighter
Tramp Steamer

Two torpedoes remaining.
Grid AN44.

When this patrol is over I should be renowned enough to trade up to a IID

you know, I got probably one of the oldest rigs here at the board.
it was state-of-the-art 5-6years ago.
but I get about 20-30fps in external view, that's acceptable.

Ugh, I hate when that happens. My last "serious" career I did 5-6 very successful patrols in the Western Approaches and then got assigned a grid to the southeast of Scapa Flow. And that's where that career ended.

Doing better so far in this one!

Patrol 3 - U-123 - Dec. 3rd. 1943 08:00 - outside Lorient

Just left Lorient for BF32. Yes, that is east of Isle of Wight, just outside the RN Portsmouth base.

Last patrol gave an interesting experience. Was approaching Reykjavik, Iceland, when attacked by two destroyers. One of them managed to damage our scopes with a lucky shot while we were submerged. Both scopes got stuck, very little space below the hull. What to do? Luckily, we had saved 2 type V Zaunkønigs in the front torpedo room, one was loaded. Managed to sidestep the first run-over and went full speed to give some space. Then, by using the sonar fired the first type V manually in the general direction, according to the sonar signals. We heard it join with the noise from the destroyer and, BLAAHH. Up it went. Started to load the second one to try the same with the second destroyer. However, it was in cue, so it took 1:30 before loading could start. In the meantime we maneuvered for time. Made good use of the Bold which diverted the next attack. At the same time the second Type V was loaded we had another manual solution and off it went. And good! After that we could surface and repair the scopes. As they still were sticky I decided to return to base.

Patrol 3 - U-123 - Dec. 4th. 1943 21:12 - kvadrant BF31

A large enemy task force approaching from the east. At least 8 ships. 2 Southamptons identified and seemingly some larger behind.
