No, but I do all the cooking at home for the family.

Isn't Dieter the WO?

I'm most like the Navigator, older than the rest of the crew and not interested in saying much.

I'd be the torpedo officer.
I'd accidentally break the torpedo rudder so it would be stuck all the way to the side and then tell the XO to talk to the captain because "I had this great idea...!"

I picked up a book in the Memphis airport two days ago on my flight back to Arizona about the USS Tang and how it's last torpedo was shot and it went crazy and looped back on them, hit them.. and sank them. I'm half way through the book now to where who got out of the sub are out.. the rest of the book I think is about capture and the POW camp.

You must be reading "Escape From The Deep" by Alex Kershaw.
Fantastic book. Read it a few months ago and it's really well done.
It's been optioned and I believe they're in pre-production of a film adaptation so...you know...really, keep your fingers crossed that they don't butcher it. I'd hate to see such an amazing story, with such unbelievably courageous men done in a way that doesn't do them justice.
Hollywood has a shaky history with this type of thing. I'm in that town and industry and even I'm worried.
