Rented that film from Netflix and really enjoyed it.

Altho' I am starting to ask myself if there is any good (recent) German film that Otto Sander is not in.

(Not complaining, mind you, I adore him. Come to think of it tho' I don't remember him turning up in Downfall. One of the movie "Harmonists" played Albert Speer however.)

Heino Ferch played Roman Cycowski in "The Harmonists" - he was the one whose girlfriend converted to Judaism in order to marry him. Also my personal favorite of the bunch, for some reason... I dunno, he seemed so sweet. He actually lived long enough to see the film:

Roman and his wife Mari retired to Palm Springs, California in 1971, but Roman didn't stay retired for long. He quickly took a job as a cantor in Palm Springs, gave voice lessons, and also taught the German language. He continued to sing well into his '90s, becoming the oldest practicing cantor in the United States.

Roman lived to see the resurgence of interest in The Comedian Harmonists, and saw the Vilsmaier film in 1998. He died on November 9, 1998, just two months shy of his 98th birthday. Mari Panzram Cycowski, who risked her life by converting to Judaism during the Nazi's rise to power so that she could marry Roman, still lives in Palm Springs.

This is Roman:

The same actor also played Albert Speer in Downfall.

Heino Ferch:

Spoiler alert! Spoiler alert! I haven't seen it yet! I can't hear you! LALALALALALALA!

Just teasing. I'm one of those rare ones who don't care if somebody tells me the whole plot. I watch for the fun, not the suspense.

Okay! That's what I was askin', and I've seen it, so cool again!

Thanks for that.

Yes I was about to say the same, he does indeed.

Well some good stuff guys, I appreciate them and thanks so much!

Well here's Rina ketty radio.
http://www.last.fm/listen/artist/Rin...similarartists

A lot of other artists featured.

And ya know it's funny how a guy like me who grew up in the 60's & 70's has finally gained such a love for this kind if stuff that was so far back before my time. And yes I've become quite a big band fan, and I just wish my parents were still around to see it.

I still do love the 70's stuff, and yup I even have gotten a taste for disco, at least what the Bee Gees were recording at the time. But yep I was one of those rockers that hated disco, and was more into the likes of the Allman Brothers, Kansas, and the like. Yes I had me a band too, and we played everything from rock to country.
I still play guitar, but not nearly so much and never really went on to the fame and fortune me and the guys dreamed about. It's just for personal pleasure now days.

Eh, I'm not so sure. I see some resemblance but if you hadn't pointed it out I would never had made any connection between the two. I like Bruce Willis in some things and adore him in others but never primarily because of his looks.

Ferch, however, is right in my wheelhouse.

Looks like there's a movie about Max Schmeling coming out sometime soon that he's also in - altho not as Schmeling as far as I can tell. I'll have to be on the lookout for it.
