Grrr, this kind of music is depressing, time to get the better mood right on track with a German classic:

Oh my Sky, ok whatever turns ya on mate.

Ok, I also have to admit im into one soap opra, the Bold and the Beautiful. I watch it at lunchtime since it got slid into the 12:30 time slot a few years ago. Didn't watch at first but well you know what happens when even though you aren't watching but just listening, you get interested one day and then................

Well one of the actresses in fact sang J'attendrai in a film in her younger days, and again a very elegant yet sexy performance.
She is none other than the lovely Leslie Ann Down.

The story of the Comedian Harmonists has been put into a German movie some years ago. I seem to remember that actually it was not bad.

Rented that film from Netflix and really enjoyed it.

Altho' I am starting to ask myself if there is any good (recent) German film that Otto Sander is not in.

(Not complaining, mind you, I adore him. Come to think of it tho' I don't remember him turning up in Downfall. One of the movie "Harmonists" played Albert Speer however.)

I'm assuming the Google translation didn't quite capture the essence of this one. Although I think I understand now why there is livestock on the stage.

Possible. It's an evergreen, and also an often used saying now. Very funny song, and the way Raabe sings it is superb. He excels in copying style and behavior of the German big Bands of the 20s and early 30s, and the Comedian Harmonists that Sailor Steve already has linked to ("Veronika", another very ironic classic song that was almost scandalous at it's time). Performing like this is what made him one of the most successful singers and musical entertainers in German-speaking Europe. Quite popular the guy, and thus, plenty of albums.

He also sometimes rips apart modern pop and rock songs, mercilessly illustrating their deficits then when forcing them into getting sung in his style of the 20s. Hilarious!

He also does a lot of research for "new, forgotten" musical pieces from that era, to revive them, he also composes song like that himself, I think.

Another really famous classic, from 1934:

as a bonus, the special version for Steve:

Brilliant performer with a very good Big Band!
