I had a bit of a 'WTF' moment yesterday night. Attacked a convoy, sank one ship and then dived deeper to avoid the 3 destroyers that were hot on my tail. Manage to start to get away at 100m depth but then they find me again and attempt to DC me. Missed each time but was enough to make me want to dive deeper to avoid them. Anyway. I get down to 250m, flank speed and getting away and then decide after 30 mins of speeding off at depth to slow down and come up for some air. So I ask for half speed ahead and hit the 'surface' button.

Suddenly 'We have flooding sir, Pressure hull destroyed' Water all over ship sharply followed by death cam.

Did someone open the hatch?

you may have been too deep. I have gotten hull damage and a warning message that I was too deep at that depth.

250 meters = 812 feet.

Gutted -->

You should have known that the teleportation feature haven't been really polished at Word War II.

The first ship with actualy working teleportation was (will be) the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 built in 2245.

Are we allowed to comment on these bugs, or will it be considered negative bashing of SH5?
Meh, I'll just let the bugs in this thread speak for themselves.

Yeah, I suspect that I was too deep. Probably was about to die anyway and was coincidental that I'd pressed surface button. Still, I do find it amusing to think that my XO got fed up of his one eyed life and decided to open the hatch! heheh

Well this isn't a bug, shift+U is intended as a workarund for something entirely different where the player gets stuck and cannot move.

What happened here is using it for something for which is was never intended, and the player paid the price for being too impatient to get back to the control room and wound up somewhere else. And he did it while in the worst of situations.
What happned next was the game simply doing what it's supposed to do, which is not to allow the hatch to be opened while submerged.

I think he has taken it with stride though, and made a funny story of it, so good on him. Im sure he wont do it again, thats the good thing about learning things the hard way............you are quite a bit more likely to never repeat it.

I must point out that you are incorrect sir. The first ship with working transporters was (will be) the NX-01 USS Enterprise launched in 2151

Its not so much a video of this that I want, but more an audio tape of what Gutted actually said during this incident...

Ah...the post traumatic death sequence cigarette. Perhaps the best of the day, full of contemplating whether to go reload the game and dedicate another hour of life to trying again, or turning on the TV to watch a DVR'd episode of Attack of the Show. I can relate to that, Gutted.

LOL
I feel like this is leading inevitably to another posting of the picture of "submarines flying through clouds" or another discussion of how "the SH engine would make such a sweet, cool, super awesome spaceship game."
