Oh... now I see what the problem is. Actually this is not a real flat sun problem but more some weak halo effect. The 'real flat sun problem' is with Nvidia and shows just a solid disc instead of a sun with halo and rays. My 8800 GTS recently died so I know from experience. With Ati cards the rays look indead weak. Try this one and if you like it I will upload the others as well:

With Nvidia cards you will see a bigger halo and I expect it may even be uggly.

Default SH5 water + MEPv3

Ah yes...No more flat sun! I loaded the Atlantic (default) version and everything is working fine concerning the sun (halo effects). So, loading the MEP flat sun fix is no longer required.

Now, if we can just fix that pesky horizon distance thingy....

Thanks Rik007.....good stuff as usual.

I have an ATI card and kind of wondered what the "flat sun" problem was all about since references to it always seemed to refer to nVidia as the culprit... and yet with some mods I would get exactly what you are describing with ATI and scratch my head and think, oh well, I guess that's how it's supposed to look.

Tried the FSF for MEPv3 and saw a major positive difference there, looking forward to trying out this new version of SH5 Water as well!

Default Flat sun

I'll check it later when I get home. Of course there are other issues, but I guess one thing at a time is best. Thanks...can't wait to try it out tonight.

This mod sounds great if you can pull it off! I would actually prefer an 8k version. (I'll keep fingers crossed!)

Reece: are you joking? Do you still have no decent hardware?

I prefer 8k, the sea blocks, horizon etc are much better, plus the game is a little harder with reduced visibility!

Default New Flat Sun fix files

Hey Rik007.....have already uploaded the 0.09v folders with the Flat Sun Tweak for the Arctic and Med? I have the new (Atlantic) default 0.09v that works OK.

On another note...I loaded the 20km version (0.09v) and it was not good at all. Lot of goofy things happening. Shimmering horizon, blocks of ocean completely whited out and not to mention a white shimmering sky. I did several VCard tweaks....nothing changes. So I have reverted back to the 16km version...or at least I think it is 16km.
