No more avi downloads, see the youtube video. For those that really want the avi versions pm me and I will give the link to download.
For future video I plan on showing a convoy attack using the same methods. For convenience and on-line viewing here is the youtube video links (obviously quality is better with download): part 1: (480p) part 2: (480p) In this two part 16 minute video I show how to manually chart the targets course, speed, range and angle on the bow, all without using map contacts or the auto TDC. I start at a distance 6500 meters from the intended target and make real time adjustments to the TDC and show how to chart speed and course based on visual readings. I whipped this up rather quick and may have left some points out, if your not clear on anything please let me know. For visual purposes I am playing with the external cam on. 223 mb, 2 AVI files packed in RAR format. I am using Advanced Shift Keys 1.6 in this tutorial but any Command Key mod should work. This is not intended to be taken as the only way to play, calculate solutions etc... I only wish to show how I play and if someone learns from my style of play than I have accomplished my goal with this video. Enjoy and Happy Hunting! EDIT: Never try and control a type 7C under the influence of German liqueur. Course was actually 275 degrees. Read further down for the adjusted math.

Nice video. Pretty epic AOB calculations.
![]() You could have used the 3 min 15 second rule though. Mark points from 0 time to 3 min 15 seconds. Measure the distance in meters and divide by 100 to get speed in knots. So instead of 850 / 180 = 4.7 * 2 = 9ish you could just do 900m / 100 = 9 kts. ![]() One thing I'd like to see is a bad weather or night manual targeting video. Every tutorial is always in perfect weather where you can see things for nautical miles, but every attack I make is in crap weather and I can never see anything! ![]() |

![]() Quote:
Calm weather bad weather, the math is the same and attack methods don't change. Next video I do, I will show single boat convoy attack in bad weather, same methods. More detailed too, with less alcohol in the gutt.

Thanks - Nice vid and funny too
![]() Can you explain a bit more about the "Target Course +Rel Bearing - 180 = AOB" Rule? Where does the 180 come from? I have been working out true bearing (Rel Bearing - Sub Course) then using an AOB Banjo but this method seems far faster. Oh and shouldnt the plots be based on true bearing rather than relative. Sorry for the noob questions. |
