Here is the very reason it can not and will not stand.

The 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

The Federal Government has not the authority to force this law onto the individual states. Several states including mine are going to the supreme court over this bill arguing that very point.

Yes we need a realistic health care reform. Absolutely but not at the expense of our freedoms and our constitution.

The U.S. constitution is the only one in the world where it clearly limits what the government can do to the people.

As a good point of discussion I can recommend the CRS report

"Federalism, State Sovereignty, and the Constitution: Basis and limits of congressional power" 1 Feb 08. It gives an excellent background in to this issue.
