I would say that's true of any flotilla. I do a quick turnaround when I'm with the 2nd at Wilhelmshaven. Then I set it to 18 days, so I get sent to the Atlantic on the 19th - the same day that 14 boats really did go out. Then I patrol at high TC until September 3 and wait for the vict...the ships to come visit me.

With a Type II these days I start on September 1, since none of them were sent out before time. I kept doing turnarounds and by the time the war started I had done six 'patrols'.

Set aside a few days (you'll need it) and give the GWX manual a read.
Indeed I ventured into it yesterday when I was trying to remember how I set the pilot course for the Kiel Canal and it appears to be somewhere in the 600-800 page range........

Hell I've read Tom Clancy books that are shorter than that.
