Default [REQ] Adding the type II and IX

Hi all modders

Its been one of the paint points of the game....so I say to you that we can get these subs in the game.

How?

We need somebody to do the exterior 3D models...thats the hardest part as we can get the 3D models converted to work with game.
The interior is probably a big piece of work, but maybe the VII interior will OK for now?

Comments?

The type IX wasnt all that different from the type VII.
The former had more length, mass, slightly extended range and an extra rear torp-tube. Other than that they didnt really stand out. Visually they didnt have the "saddle-tanks" of the type VII so it had a sleeker appearence.
The Type IX were also less manouverable and took longer to dive as compared to the type VII.
In short, is it worth the trouble of making a new sub for SH5?

As for the type II: It was a boat designed not to stray too far from the coast. If the Type II were to be introduced into SH5 then new short-range missions would have to be made.

Those or just my 2 cents though.

Absolutely worth it, as the range was not just a bit extended, depending on Version it even put the fleet boats to shame. Added to that comes a much larger torpedo count. All in all I much preferred the IX over the VII in SH3, it's a real pity that boat is not included here, imho.

Yea i like the type 9 as well, its more of a big navy boat and less of a steel tube of death. Did they have a wider deck as well?

Type 9 is the best convoy killer, bar none.

the main problem is, that at this time no one can import any type of 3d models to the GR2 files.

The LAST thing we want is more options!

in the NSS_Uboat2a.cfg it is even listed as human playable.

Yup its in there...

Guess the devs were working on it, but didnt have time/budget to complete it, so they left it in there for us to continue on

Yes!!! Let's bring back the Type IX, my personal favorite of all the uboats, imo it seems to be the best and most versatile sub they had.

Seriously i would only really see this happen and done right if the devs deside to release an addon.

Come back in a year when the modding goes from bug fixes to new ships and things.

We have a KILLER Type 9 ref built for the now defunct GWX 4.
I've completed part of the conversion to SH5.

I'm hopeing he will respond to an E-mail I sent.
