Default Allied Acoustic Torpedos

Hi guys, some of you may have read this before, it concerns the I52 sunk in 1944 on her way to Germany.
this is an intersting read, I was amazed at the allied torps, and my question: are these modelled in this sim ?
Take the time to have a read, I found myself felling sorry for those submariners and the fate that befell them.

No, they weren't modelled.

The devteam gave the feeble answer that they didn't want an "instant kill" weapon in the game.

More likely, given the lack of any torpedos firable by AI in the game, is that they just didn't have the time to make it work anyhow.

No, the FIDO isn't modded in the game- apparently, the devs thought it was too harsh and stifled game play. Several threads have debated the possibility of modifying Avengers (for example) to carry/drop T-5s, but there's at first glance no way to get the AI to activate the torp.

Funnily enough, it was actually modelled in Command Aces of the Deep, way back in 1996.

Isn't that irritating? I keep thinking the same thing! CAOD had wolfpacks, FIDOs, I don't remember if it had resupply...but it had:
"Smoke on the horizon!"

What would be the fun of playing SH3 with FIDO's? Realism? The Germans didnot know about the FIDO's and I think that the Dev's are right not to incorporate them. A sudden death would raise many more reacties than this little thread.

At the other hand how can you detect Hedgehocs other than using the external cam? That would be the same for FIDO's.

The new October 2005 issue of WW2 magazine has a great
article on the Japanese Subs that went to German ports in
France. They were trading info, tech and developments with
each other. (Germany & Japan)
