Default US Website/Uplay - some new stuff on the website

I went on Ubi US website and it has been updated like the UK version. Also there is a link to the Uplay - there are 4 "rewards" available on Uplay too - 1 Wallpaper, 2 Missons, and a pack of 2 sub camo skins.

The rewards have actually been on Uplay since the game was released. I guess they just didn't have a link from the website.

Ah ok. At least there is some sign of life at the website. The Captaions Log is up, but does not seem to be up to date.

"UPlay Points"?

I guess it's just because I'm getting old.

Not a bad gimmick. Although I'd rather all this stuff be in the game without the need to unlock them.

All this stuff is already in your SH5 installation.
Take WinRAR and open the r2.rw, r3.rw and r4.rw in /data, these are the DLC stuff but encoded, you can unrar it but not use it. Something is missing to make these files usable, I assume some bytes and these bytes is what you can download from Uplay

It's just the first step before they start charging us for things. "DLC" and all that. Console zombies eat that crap up, they think it's awesome getting "extra" stuff for "only a few dollars" not realizing it was part of the game from the beginning.

By the end of the year I bet you'll see the first PC game where you pay for the demo, pay FULL price for the game, pay even more for DLC, then pay even more for an add-on/expansion. To top it all off I'm sure they'll try to get you to PAY monthly for the ability to pay for all this, like xBox Live Gold or something.

Then they'll be out of business before you know it. DRM is one thing, but I seriously doubt any PC gamer in their right mind would support something like this. I certainly will not.

We've already bought into merely renting games, example UbiSoft's DRM. It's just the next step.

*caugh* EA just announced that they are planning on releasing so called trial versions of their games that allow you to play for about 4 hours. ... Oh, and yeah, you are supposed to pay about 15$ for this ... demo. They did not say whether this will mean you can "update" to the "full" game for a reduced price, yet. If this catches on you can bet both your kidneys that Uplay will look into it as well.

edit: Darn it, to slow again!

You got an eMail, that's it. But not even all got it lol.

But this is exactly what i meant, it is all a preparation to charge you in the future - want another mission - use your account to pay and download, or play it as a browser game while using "UBI points" - which you got by paying for something else. God how i wish they go down with this online requirement model ..

Greetings,
Catfish
